Also, does a moses basket need a hood? or rather, would the baby feel more snuggly with a hood? I'm not sure about the fabric - ruffles and such, hanging down. Seems like that would be dangerous ie SIDS...

hmm I preferred having a hood as you could make sure they weren't in direct sunlight and also didn't need to draw the curtains btu I didn't always bother. Our shad simialr sort of frills ,as long as they are cotton and breathable should be fine. Really not sure of the gimmick overall and no way will you be using it at 20lbs !

I wouldn't allow my baby to sleep in in for any length of time as it's plastic, I think that because it can be used as a bath so it doesn't have any ventilation holes. I would buy a wicker one from mothercare or john lewis which have the required saftey standards.
