Hello,
I am having my first midwife appointment today at 11 weeks, just wondering what to expect? And will the midwife be able to hear baby's heart beat? Thank you :)

No, too early for heartbeat sadly, that's not until 16 weeks at earliest. Today will be a lot of info gathering, asking you about medical history, where you want to give birth, family circumstances etc. How exciting- I always enjoy all my appointments.

Depending on where you are most of the time they don't check the heartbeat. I'm 36 weeks and they've never checked my babies heartbeat!

If they do it's normally from 16 weeks. First appointment is just answering lots about your medical history and any history of abuse etc.

At my Trust, we don’t listen to the heartbeat until 25 weeks. Hope your appointment goes well and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Is it booking appointment?

Urine test, bloods maybe, height weight and BP done.

Million other medical questions regarding you and family etc.

Our area doesn't do HB with Doppler until after 20 weeks - 11 weeks too early but they may let you listen if US.
