Horrific headaches at 15 weeks

I'm 15 weeks along, and the past week I've had the worst headaches of my life. I can literally feel them roll into my head between 9 and 9.30 and they stay for 2-3 hours, leaving me feeling nauseated and slightly woozy throughout. Panadol barely touches it.
Have been trying to get a GP appointment but they're like gold dust around here and I can't always call at the minute they open due to my work, so it might need to be a few more days. Have other people had this? Did it go? Was it anything to worry about? And is there anything that worked for them?

I had this and they were really horrible. Nothing really helped I just went to bed and tried to sleep through them (although they often woke me up). A can of Coke sometimes made me feel a bit better but that could have been just the sugar rush/psychological. They went after a few weeks. Hopefully it’s the same for you. Flowers

I did mention them at my medical appointments but no one seemed that interested. Worth asking GP though.

Could you ring the midwife/antenatal enquiries number and get advice from them? I had an antenatal appointment last week (I’m 29weeks)and they specifically asked me if I had experienced any severe headaches (I haven’t). The midwife mentioned that persistent severe headaches can indicate preeclampsia so definitely get it checked out. It might be nothing but best to get advice from the right people.

I was having them from about 16 weeks, including my first ever migraine. They were horrendous and would last for 2-3 days, not good when you work in from of a computer all day!
I read a post on here and someone suggested a can of coke and am happy to say it has completely cured them! I have a can or 2 a day from about mid morning and I haven't had a headache in around 3 weeks now (I'm 23 weeks tomorrow).

I have decided that mine were mostly down to caffeine, I used to drink a LOT of tea and would never leave the house without having had one but I no longer like it.
I tried to like it again until about 15 weeks with maybe a cup a day (wishful thinking as still really craved a cuppa!) but I still couldn't bare it so I cut out caffeine completely without even thinking about it, and I am sure that's what caused them for me.

Definitely ring the MW Smile

Try drinking a sports drink like lucazade sport, or get some of the electrolyte tablets.

Managed to solve a few headaches with a good hydration and electrolyte top up if at least a litre.

Has these both previous pregnancies. Absolutely awful! Just wanted you to know I was told they were perfectly normal (as long as you’re drinking etc)

happymummy12345 · 19/03/2018 12:37

I did. But I suffer with headaches anyway. I swear by 4head. It always works so well for me. It's the only thing that seems to.

Holycrapwhatnow · 19/03/2018 12:54

Ill ring the MW when I have time between meetings later (still haven't told work so need to slink into a room somewhere), and look into 4head.
With my previous pregnancies I've had a few headaches but nothing too bad, and outside of pregnancy barely ever, so this is all new to me, and really appreciate your advice, thank you!

My headaches started about 8 weeks into my pregnancy. I'm now 23 weeks and they have gotten worse. I get them everyday, some days mild, others horrendous!! Twice I had white flashes in my vision but I still have 3 weeks to my next obstetrician appointment to mention them 😕 I have chronic hypertension and gestational diabetes and on medication for both. Wish they would go away, they are ruining my pregnancy experience 😭

I had a few really awful migraine headaches around 16-18 weeks, never had any before pregnancy, went to the GP they got so bad but they couldn’t suggest anything. I used 4head and just lay in a dark room and waited them out, missed a few days of work because I couldn’t bare to look at a screen. But the good news is I haven’t had a single one since then (now 37 weeks) so fingers crossed it’s just a phase for you too!
