I'm really scared I've hurt the baby.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and my dd is 11 months. We've lowered her crib and I've just gone to put her in and accidentally pressed my belly up the bars too hard to try and get her in without disturbing her too much. Didn't work. I almost dropped her and I'm in so much pain. Thankfully she's okay just very awake again but I'm so scared I've hurt my little boy. I haven't had pain like it.
Any advice?

I think it would be very unlikely you’ve done any danage. I fell in pg and my dc is fine. I’m not an hcp though.

However, as you are in a lot of pain I would call your hospital midwives and see what they advise - they may want you to come over for a check and to do traces on you.

Contact your midwife or 111 for some proper medical advice

Onceuponatimethen · 18/03/2018 21:07

Call the maternity assessment unit.

Onceuponatimethen · 18/03/2018 21:07

I had to go in, they checked hb and put traces on. I was monitored for around 4 hours then sent home

Oh so sorry OP. Everything is probably okay but definitely get checked out as not worth taking any risks. The midwives understand and would much rather you aired on the side of caution than took any risks.

Onceuponatimethen · 18/03/2018 21:08

I would call them straight away - they will want to see you now probably I would think

And keep an eye if any blood / fluid leak at all

Schlimbesserung · 18/03/2018 21:10

You need to get proper medical advice, as the others have said. You have probably not hurt your baby but you may have hurt yourself and either way you need to be seen. Honestly, your midwife would rather you called.

Forevertired19 · 18/03/2018 21:32

I can't get anywhere due to the bloody snow. I'm snowed in and the taxi company won't pick me up in this. I phoned a few weeks ago and they refused as the conditions were so bad.
Would an ambulance or any other place pick me up? Unfortunately we don't drive not that we could get out anyway

I think you’d be best to ring the maternity department at your hospital and explain what happened and how you’re feeling.

Ohyesiam · 18/03/2018 21:35

It’s really unlikely your baby is hurt. He is so well cushioned by muscle and fluid.
I think you should call the maternity unit and your all it through with them.

Best of luck

Onceuponatimethen · 18/03/2018 21:39

I think you should check with the maternity unit urgently and I guess they may if they think you need to come in

CatchIt · 18/03/2018 21:42

If you're stuck in snow and you're on fb, put a 4x4 plea out. We had this locally so that anyone who desperately needed to get somewhere (nurses/doctors to work etc) could get some help.

I'm sure that there would be someone to take you to a maternity assessment unit if you are very worried.

BrutusMcDogface · 18/03/2018 21:44

I'd call for advice but I don't think you would have hurt your baby; more likely you've hurt yourself! What kind of pain is it?

MrsMozart · 18/03/2018 21:44

Whereabouts in the country are you?

I ask because I have a 4x4 sat outside.

Steeley113 · 18/03/2018 21:45

What’s the pain like?

Forevertired19 · 18/03/2018 21:46

The pain is like a very very bad ache. I know where his head is and it happened there. Just realised my mom has my stepdads 4x4 so I'm going to give her a ring. He took hers down south for his job. Thanks all x

Just to say that just because it's hurt you, doesn't mean it has necessarily hurt the baby -- you will have taken the brunt of the pain yourself. Your baby is well-cushioned in there with your flesh and an amniotic sac around him.

With that said, if it were me I would definitely go and get checked out to make sure all is well. Nobody will think you are being silly.

IMBU · 18/03/2018 22:15

MrsMozart that is so lovely of you. OP Hope everything is ok with your baby.

Onceuponatimethen · 19/03/2018 06:51

LoveProsecco · 19/03/2018 07:29

MrsMozart · 19/03/2018 07:54

Checking in to see how you're doing lass.

Forevertired19 · 19/03/2018 20:33

Hi all, just thought I'd give an update.
I phoned last night as the pain was excruciating. I was so scared but we've had so much snow it's difficult for anyone to get to us.
So I phoned triage at the hospital and they told me if I leaked, bled or had loss of movements to try and get straight in. But I was advised really to have a cold drink and lay on my left side and basically go to bed.
So I stayed up all night worrying. Still in pain which gradually went an my midwife actually came and checked me out this morning from her home in Wales. She's a wonderful woman. Heartbeat is fine. Still in a bit of pain today but not as bad as he's been moving about fine. Thank you all, an thank you @mrsmozart for your lovely gesture last night :) x
