Confusing Test Results?!?

Hi everyone,

I am completely new here and I have never posted in a thread before so I hope I’m doing it right!

Ok so I’ve been on the pill for about a year and I stopped taking it around 3-4 weeks ago. Since then I’ve had bleed and stopped.

My husband and I are trying for a baby. I’ve felt really weird recently, very tired and rundown so decided to just do a test not thinking anything of it.

Well a faint line came up so took another and again a faint line. Husband was bit unconvinced so went to Tesco and got a clear blue one and that came back negative? So confused!

I will post a pic of my two faint ones.

Please can anyone help?!?

They have different sensitivities. At the very beginning you can test positive on one type and negative in another. Check the packaging for what the threshold hcg level they will pick up is. Pink dye tests like first response early are generally more sensitive than blue. At the beginning even a slight change in urine concentration can be the difference between line and nonline

Or you could have had a checnial pregnancy, picked up the very faint positive and then the next time you tested it was below the threshold again.

You need to wait, and test again in 48 hrs with first morning urine, or urine you’ve held for five hours

The first couple were the strip tests and the next one was a clear blue test. I even got my husband to pee on a strip one to just double check and it came back negative for him. How do I upload pics onto here so I can show you?

No need to upload pics - if there’s a line and the test is in date and you looked within he time limits its positive. Check the detection limits - it’ll be 10, 25, 59 etc mIU/hCG.

If test is out of date you can get false positives, if you leave it hours you can too.

There really is no way of knowing unless you wait, which I do understand is hard at this stage. HCG levels double roughly in 48 hours so wait, retest and you should have an answer inside a week.

They both say 25mlU/ml or greater. Just really confused why 2 would have faint lines and the next one has nothing. I did test all 3 pretty close together so could be that it was really weak concentrate? I shall do what you said though and wait

If you didn't use the same urine, then yes, they could have been more dilute. But a line is a line.

Please can you tell me how to upload a pic, feel like I’m going crazy!

There’s a little paper clip on the post for attachments
