When I was pregnant with my son around 32 weeks my bp was high. I was put on labetalol untill delivery at 40 weeks. After delivery we had to stay in hospital 2 days as he needed his blood sugars taking for 24 hours due to labetalol.

I'm now 29 weeks pregnant and my blood pressure has slowly risen and I'm thinking the same will happen again. I don't want to have to stay in hospital for 2 days again having D'S to think about this time.
Are there any blood pressure medications you can take where you don't have to stay in or are they all pretty much the same?

I had pre eclampsia with my last pregnancy and ended up spending 10 days in post birth while they tried different combinations of medication. I think unfortunately they just need to go with what works at stabilising your bp and obviously only certain drugs can even be used in pregnancy, but it's worth asking the doctor or midwife. I know spending time in after birth sucks but ultimately 2 days is not much in the grand scheme of things.

Aww yes that's so true that 2 days is nothing in comparison. I just feel really worried about having to stay away from ds!

I have chronic hypertension and was on labetalol while me and dh were trying to get pregnant. When I fell pregnant my obstetrition changed my medication to methyldopa 250mg 2x a day. I am now 23 weeks pregnant and now take them 3x a day. I asked if I will be kept in after having my baby and was told no, I would be kicked out after 6 hours like everyone else lol
