Period bleeding at 5 weeks

I'm 4 weeks 6 days pregnant and have had a lot of fresh red blood (like a normal period) and period cramps. Started this afternoon. I had some light bleeding with my daughter, but this time is very different and I feel certain it's a miscarriage. You can't self refer to my epu, but I don't think it's necessary anyway. Can I just do nothing or do I have to tell my gp or 111? With my daughter it was about a 5 day wait for epu scan. I don't want to waste the hospital's time if it's not needed. Would doing a pregnancy test prove if I have lost it, if so when from? Google has not really helped me work out what to do. Thanks in advance

I am very sorry to read this, you poor thing. I went through a chemical pregnancy like this before too. There isn't much medically they will do for you. So you just have to sit it out unfortunately. It's very upsetting.

Thanks jp. So there's no need to see the gp or anything? Can I just confirm it in a few days with a pregnancy test?

I’m sorry this has happened.

With my earlier miscarriages I found I was getting noticeably lighter and then negative HPTs within a few days of the bleeding starting

There’s no need to see GP/ other doc as long as it’s ‘just’ a bleed, no major pain and then you get negative pregnancy tests a reasonable time thereafter.

Flowers Take care of yourself.

Thanks Polly. I've only done the one pregnancy test (last Sunday, a dark line) so I'll do another one in a couple of days to confirm it. Glad I don't need to waste epu's time.

Just realised I meant nearly 6 weeks, not nearly 5. Doesn't matter though. I just did a cheapie pregnancy test and there's only just a very faint line. Will do another tomorrow with fmu just to confirm it.
