Could 75mg of aspirin be making me feel faint and dizzy?

I was advised at 13 weeks to take 75mg of aspirin due to high bmi .

I'm now 17 weeks, and for the last 3 or 4 weeks I've had a horrible cold and cough. So maybe it's just that making me feel awful. But I've been feeling increasingly dizzy, faint and short of breath when I'm standing or walking, and today it's really bad. Dh asked if it could be the aspirin, so I'm just wondering if that's a possibility?

I should also say my iron levels were 130 when checked at 13 weeks, so I don't think it's low iron causing my issues.

Definitely not a medical opinion but I am 18 weeks preg and had a horrid horrid virus for about 3 weeks and I'm still recovering now. I got really breathless with it as well and a bit dizzy. I would say it's more likely to be that but if you are worried please message your gp or midwife

Almost certainly not the aspirin. I think you really need to see a doctor - could be a chest infection (or other things)

I'm.exactly like Caseymoo- 18 weeks, viral cold and sore throat.
Also on aspirin which I've stopped for time being due to cold as i can't swallow them.

Defo check with midwife or doctor.

Please don't stop the aspirin gryffen, it's important to take them as prescribed. If you're struggling to swallow them then you can get dispersible ones from the pharmacy which you can dissolve in water and drink.

No I don't think so but see gp incase it's an infection. 'Proper' Chest infections can make you feel woozy and dizzy.

I also tend to feel dizzy a lot in the second trimester.

Thanks for the replies.
My cough is slightly better today - I'm not coughing up any phlegm, and it sounds more like a bark than a chesty cough now, so fingers crossed it's on its way out. It probably is just being unwell that's made me feel this way then, but thought I'd ask!

I've had to spend most of the day lying in bed so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day 🤞

I had to stop taking aspirin as it gave me terrible stomach pains. I also felt dizzy and sick when taking it. I normally have stomach problems anyway, aspirin made them worse.

gryffen · 17/03/2018 18:16

I'm under medical advice to stop them as if they get stuck (very swollen throat) then I'm kinda screwed.

Also having had major stomach surgery in April they advise to stop and i can revert back to aspirin later if needed under surgeon advice.
