Just when wiping when I go to the toilet. It hasn't got any worse - no heavier or darker. Anyone had similar? According to LMP I'm 10+1

I can't see anything sponge cake did you get a scan for the spotting? You seem to be very anxious, totally understandable. I'm knicker watching too but if I was having a lot of doubt I'd definitely be pushing for a reassurance scan or paying privately if possible.

Hopefully everything is OK and you will start to enjoy the pregnancy soon x

SpongeCake23 · 17/03/2018 13:31

@twobambinos I do suffer from bad anxiety. I haven't had a scan yet no. I had my first midwife on Thursday and mentioned to her, she didn't seem worried. She said pink and brown are common but I keep fearing it'll turn to red every time, it's torture!
First scan booked for 11th April. Seems like ages away. I'll be 14 weeks then.

I suffer a bit too and would be lying if I didn't say I wasn't checking after every wipe.
I paid private for a scan at 9 weeks just to be sure. I mean there's never any guarantees ever but it might put your mind at rest for a little while. 3 weeks isn't too far away either though hopefully it flies by.

twobambinos · 17/03/2018 13:37

Oh sorry 4 weeks away id definitely be trying to get one next week!

SpongeCake23 · 17/03/2018 13:39

I can't afford a private one unfortunately and they won't give me one on the NHS

A private scan can be done for as little as 100 quid. If you can’t afford that how are you going to afford a baby? Not being goady - seriously interested.

twobambinos · 17/03/2018 14:10

That's a pity sponge. Maybe try and look at it this way. If anything were to happen now there isn't anything they could do to stop it anyway worrying about it won't change it. I know that's so much easier said than done unfortunately

SpongeCake23 · 17/03/2018 14:16

@ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay it's going to be a struggle but we're currently saving £50 a month as that's all we can afford at the moment...we are both on low incomes, I am worried how we'll afford it all but I hope we can. So that £100 seems a lot for us.

@twobambinos Thank you. I know. I think it's because I feel I have such little control over it all.

Hi there,

I’ve had spotting much worse than this for the last week. I understand how anxious you feel. Much like you, I keep waiting for it to turn red. My midwife has organised a scan next week with it being so persistent. I hope it resolves for you xx

Kirkwood87 · 17/03/2018 16:33

Have you tried groupon? In my area there are deals on there for early reassurance scans for about £29/£39 so it may be worth checking on there.
I’m 11 weeks now and I’ve had a few scans already via EPAU due to bleeding and have another one next week to check the size of the clot that’s been causing the bleeding. Maybe you could speak to your local EPAU if it gets any worse/becomes painful. Fingers crossed it doesn’t and all is well before your scan on the 11th!

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 17/03/2018 18:10

@SpongeCake23

You can go to your local EPU and say you've had bleeding they will scan you.

Alternatively, my early private scan was only £50. I know you're saving but it would be more than worth it for you to have some peace of mind.

I would do one of the above because you are posting a lot but no one here can possibly give you the peace of mind you need.

I'm sure you will be fine Flowers

user1471462428 · 17/03/2018 18:16

That’s incredibly selfish advice from biscay. I’ve have miscarriages and had to wait days for confirmation. It would have been very difficult to find out people use EPU as a reassurance service.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 17/03/2018 18:17

£100 is a month's food shopping for some low income families! What a ridiculous comment.

Isadora2007 · 17/03/2018 18:19

I paid for a reassurance scan recently and it was £40. Many are less than £50 now.

I don’t understand how a first nhs scan can be as late as 14 weeks- I thought it needed to be before 12 weeks in order to use the measurements and blood test results for the Downs risk etc?

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 17/03/2018 18:19

That’s incredibly selfish advice from biscay.

But OP has had ongoing spotting for a while now as per her last few posts. So why is it selfish to go and tell the EPU that?

AnnaLuna · 17/03/2018 18:19

Where are you based, SpongeCake? In my area you can get a private scan for £30-40. I had one today to find out the gender of the baby. It cost me £31.50.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 17/03/2018 18:20

Wow that's unbelievably rude and also none of your business

SpongeCake23 · 17/03/2018 19:21

@Isadora2007 I thought the same but apparently that's when they can fit me in...! Sad

OP posts:
pickle162 · 17/03/2018 22:16

The nhs scan needs to be before 14weeks due to the blood tests and neck measurements but anything before then is fine. I had mine at 13wks

The picture looks more like cervical mucus which can increase & change throughout pregnancy but if you have any spotting or increased pain go to the epu.

I'm just off 37weeks now and seriously the worry just changes from one thing to another.even directly after a scan I would think oh I hope everything is ok even when just seen her. All part of being a parent, the worrying never ends. I really hope everything goes ok for you x

SpongeCake23 · 17/03/2018 22:19

I just worked it out and my scan will be when I'm 13+5 going by my LMP.
