Is anyone else’s baby lying completely to one side at term?

Not far off due date now. For the last few weeks, baby has been head down but lying almost entirely to one side, to the point that my bump points to one side rather than straight ahead.

One side is generally soft and squishy, the other side firm from where baby is and I can feel the movements there. Midwife thought she was lying sort of sideways but still cephalic

Will she level out before labour? At last appointment the midwife thought she was 2/5ths engaged (3/5ths palpable) but I can’t see how she would deliver safely at a wonky angle! I worry about cord prolapse and that kind of thing too

Thanks

I am due today and this is how my baby is currently lying. Midwife didn't seem concerned and actually said that if their back is slightly more to the left side it is better positioning for labour. Is your midwife telling you baby should be in the middle?

As long as she's cephalic and starting to engage it doesn't matter where the rest of her is. The increased risk of cord prolapse is with oblique or transverse lies or a high head that isn't engaging. When you have contractions it'll straighten everything up and push her down further, but the rest of her body will follow her head for delivery whatever the angle.

Mine is right side and pretty much doing the same as yours. I'm 36 weeks today (expecting her soon I deliver early) and had a scan yesterday to confirm this, my sonographer was a midwife first and says they quite like them in this position - so long as she isn't back to back as that can be a bit awkward you sound fine

That’s a relief, thank you all

Midwife not said anything to the contrary so I’m clearly worrying unnecessarily!

My dd was like this from 23 weeks until delivery...turns out I have a bicornuate uterus and she had no choice! She was breech and a bit small but otherwise no complications. Good luck!

My dc1 was like this, completely to the left and I looked ridiculous. Very quick and straightforward birth, all was fine. Weirdly though my stomach has always been slightly wonky ever since!

Yes my little one starts off just just left of midline(belly button) and then completely on right hand side-she has been on right side for majority of pregnancy (like from when I could feel her). Head is engaged 3/5
Exciting stuff :)

Ds faced sideways at birth, I did need dr to go in there and 'turn' him, god knows what happened - but all was fine and ny healthy 8lb 12oz boy turns 2 this week Sad
