Paternity leave.

My husband has just been refused paternity leave. They've told him if he wants time off to use his holidays.
Is this correct? I thought all men were entitled to some paternity?!

This is really stressing me out as I'm planning on having a planned c section and I'm going to need the extra help!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Check his eligibility here www.gov.uk/paternity-pay-leave/eligibility

As PP has suggested, check his eligibility online.

Its not uncommon for men to use up their annual leave instead of taking paternity. We can't afford for my husband to take paternity pay as its a lot lower than his usual wage, so he's going to use up 10 days holidays (2 weeks) instead.

How long has he been working there? As PP have said best to get he's eligible.

Is it your first? Whilst it's nice to have help after a section you should be ok fairly quickly. If you've got a toddler at home that needs lifting etc then definitely get him to take leave!

If he's qualifies time wise then he is allowed to take his 2 week paternity.
