Bartholin's Cyst and pregnant?

Had them before, so I know what it is.
It's day 1 of having it but it's already swelled in size and it's pretty painful already.
Is there any point in going to Drs? Will they just leave me to ride it out?
Also I work weekends so no way I could get to drs tomorrow, which would mean waiting till Monday.
Just wondering if I should be worried with being pregnant too?

Oh bless you, they are so painful.

I suffer from hydradenitis suppurativa and had many abscesses during previous pregnancies.

Go to your gp and he may prescribe antibiotics that are safe for use in pregnancy, or they may send you to have it drained.
I wouldn't risk developing an infection.

Hope you feel better soon Thanks

So sorry to hear this, I've had about 10 of these in the last 10 years and have had about 6 operations. They are horrific!

I would go to the doctor as if you leave it it can become more and more infected. I was on antibiotics for one of them for a month, they weren't working and the infection got that bad I collapsed and had to have an abulance called where they put me on an antibiotic drip.

At that time, if there was no infection they could have drained it but I had to wait for the infection to clear. If you can handle it, they can do it until local anaesthetic, they will numb the area with needles and then drain it. I naever had this as I always had general but it's a good fix to get it drained and over with.

Other than this, have you tried magnesium paste? You can get it from boots. I have used this the last few times I have had one and on some of them it worked. It draws the cyst out and forces it to drain on it's own. Worth a try for a few days to see if it can help.

No experience during pregnancy but I did have a horrible experience with a Bartholins cyst a few years ago which very quickly turned into an abscess. It was extremely painful and I felt very poorly with it. It ended with a stay in hospital and having it surgically removed under general anaesthetic so if I were you I'd get it looked at rather than just waiting.

This is the 3rd cyst in 10 months 😭
I'll try the magnesium paste and hope it works. I can't take tomorrow off work for a docs appointment as I was off last Saturday! If it gets bad then I will of course call 111 over the weekend.
Thanks ladies

It definitely has worked for me, not on all of them but most. I had a bad bout of it too where I seemed to have one every three months. Touch wood I haven't had one now since 2015. If you can put it on where you can lay down without any bottoms on. I plastered it on. If you have to go out put a bit of tissue there over it. I hope it works!

I had the start of mine at 28 weeks pregnant so I. It was SO sore a quite big so i got some anti biotics from my gp. Still didn't go and I was getting reduced movement from the pain of walking and sitting...literally couldn't walk properly. Hot baths and a hot water bottle was advised to me at MAU when I saw the dr there. It's my first ever one. I actually mentioned it to my obstetrician and she's got me onto the gynaecology as it could be operated on whilst I have my c sec x it's really worth trying to get a 6' O clock slot if I were you just to make sure there's no infection there. Whatever her you do don't try and squeeze it or stuff as it will make it more painful. I've survived on paracetamol and sudo cream which made it go down a bit x

I had a cyst at 32 weeks pregnant went to the go who put me on some antibiotics (these didn’t work) it then got infected and turned into an abscess which they described the size of a golf ball…

Went to get it looked at and they numbed the area with an needle made an incision to drain it and put in something called a word catheter which will be taken out after 3-4 weeks. Still got a bit of discomfort but feeling better I just soak in warm baths for 20-30 mins and it helps loads!! Gets baby moving too :)
