Do girl nubs ever turn into boy nubs?

We've just had our 12 week scan, it was lovely to see the baby moving around and waving it's arms about! I showed my best friend the photo and she said thats a girl, I see a girl nub ( lines wise its very parallel )

I always had a feeling this was a girl because of all my symptoms and so did my DH.

It's our first baby and although I honestly am just so so grateful to be pregnant and feel very lucky a tiny bit of me wanted a boy ( purely because we have all girl grandkids in the family at the moment and I thought it might be nice to see what a boy would be like)

I honestly am happy regardless but before I start thinking of it as a girl, has anyone found a girl looking nub is actually a boy?

Yes. I sent my last 12 week scan to a website that has the best expert guessers in the land (can't remember the name but the ladies there just had incredible knowledge and were rarely ever wrong) and the answer was unanimously girl. It was a boy. It was a good quality photo too. I think if you are almost 13 weeks, the nub is better formed but closer to 12 weeks you do get some difficult ones. A few days makes an enormous difference apparently.

Thanks @PetraRabbit I think with nub theory out there all my friends who are already mums almost automatically tell you what you're having! I wasn't actually looking for the nub, but then 2 of my friends said "thats def a girl"

Ive attached the pic I dont want people to start labelling it a girl if things could change or for me to get too attached to the idea of it being a girl if it might not be !

Put it on strictly nub theory on Facebook their success rate is 99% if after 12 weeks plus. Girls can develop into boys,boys can't change to girls. You might get your boy xx

Nub theory is only a theory and there is no good science to back it up. I wouldn’t get too fixated either way.

Im 12+2 so closer to 12

probably going to book an early gender scan at 16 to find out for sure!

I don't think there is a clear nub there at all
And 12w5 is when the nub theory becomes more reliable
Until then it's abit early and things can most definitely change!

My “girl” turned into a boy baby haha I was told I was having a girl at my 12 week scan (in fairness I shouldn’t have asked) actually a baby boy

Girl at 20+22 weeks was a ds!!
Symptoms are no indication of gender BTW!!
All in ya head I am afraid!!

I don’t really believe it’s as accurate as they say, it depends on having a really good shot. I’ve had various guesses on my 12 weeks scan, the nub (if it is that) appears at 3 different angles in each picture! Also do the ones they get it wrong for really come back and let them know they were wrong?

It turned out to be a little boy even though lots thought he was a girl from the nub theory he's now a toddler!

I was coming on to say that the nub is not accurate if it's before 12+5.... and that it's only a theory anyway haha

@sel2223 - my scan was dated 12+5 and everyone I've asked plus nubtechs said girl. However I thought I was 12+2 based on ovulation which I know when it happened as I was temping.
I wonder how that is factored in? Advice I received is that it goes off the scan dating not what you thought you would be, but I do feel like maybe it makes it less reliable (ofc it isn't totally reliable anyway as just a theory!)

@IslayBrigid I've been following some groups on fb just for fun and still never get it 'right' haha.
I wonder if your subconscious just knew it was a boy....reading this thread, it's like you never fully believed it was a girl x

Hey @sel2223 I'm actually still pregnant, just got my nubtechs result back :) will find out the sex when I am 20 weeks.
But yes the OP did end up having a boy despite people thinking it was a girl.
Mine does look very girly, I'm just wondering how reliable it is haha. I'm just super excited to find out! x

I take it with a pinch of salt but curiosity got the better of me so I asked and got all girl guesses. I will hopefully find out in 4 weeks if they're right or not
