Worrying bloods at 12 weeks

Hi - I'm hoping someone can help me understand my results. I was called back to the hospital because I have a 1:16 chance of Downs Syndrome.
The Nuchal measurement was 1.4 and I'm 39.
It is mainly because of my bloods but I don't quite understand how 'bad' they are.
My HCG is 57.2 MOM 1.38
My PAPP A is 466.5 MOM 0.22

Does anyone know how high and low that is respectively? I just feel so confused.
Thanks

I think they are both supposed to be about 1 so your HCG is a little high and your PAPP A quite low. Low PAPP A is sometimes linked to low birth weight so you'll probably have extra monitoring. Are you having more tests to check for Downs Syndrome?

I think I will as am so worried but it's all quite hard to take in at the moment. 1 in 16 just seems very high so I think I would worry for the rest of my pregnancy. It's the not knowing that's so hard.
Ok - if they are both meant to be 1 then yes I see it's the PAPP A that's more worrying

Hi, I think it's the PAPP A that will be of concern as low counts as under 0.4 MOM. I haven't had this myself but I think it means you will have extra growth scans and perhaps be consultant led.

You're risk factor will be high anyway due to your age - mine was too which will skew the results.

Have you thought about further testing? The harmony test is non invasive and very accurate.

Good luck, I know how worrying this time is Thanks

Your NT was nice and low which is a good sign.

Your measurements are almost exactly the same as mine although I was 34 at the time. My consultant was very strongly in favour of the benefits of having an amnio, which I did. Nuchal testing was in its infancy back then and I had to wait several weeks for the results of the amnio but it turned out to be fine, despite the very poor bloods results. I hope it goes well for you too - the not knowing is not something I wouldn't have dealt with at all well, so in my case the consultant was right.
