Perineal stitches

Had a second degree tear after giving birth on Sunday, all stitched and no issues since. However today there has been a small stitch with a knot on my maternity pad, is this ok? They're dissolvable stitches. Want to avoid getting checked as much as poss because it was so bloody painful the first time!

I had a stitch or two fall out onto a pad in the early days. I'd say have a look in a mirror if you can. If it looks like there is a hole or area that needs to be held together, give the team a call to get it checked out, if it looks held together well I'd leave it and just mention it at your 10 day check.

Yes it’s fine and normal. Keep doing you pelvic floor excercises and keep the area clean and dry. Midwife should inspect on your next visit or prior to discharging you

Yes that's fine; as your skin heals the stitches will dissolve and some may fall out. If you are worried though ask the midwife to check your stitches at the next appointment.

Thanks all, no excess bleeding etc or anymore fallen out so I'm sure its fine. Seeing the mw tomorrow. Definitely can't bring myself to look!
