Evening all,

I’m currently 5weeks and 5 days pregnant. I spotted brown from 9DPO until the day after my AF would have been due and then it stopped. I got my BFP at 12DPO. The spotting stopped completely for a week and now it’s back. I’m on to day 4 of spotting- it’s mainly pale brown but now pinkish brown (sorry for the TMI).
I know there’s nothing that can be done either way, I guess I just wanted to talk or hear some experiences.
Thanks in advance xx

@RD15 thank you for checking in! I think all the same is good. It hopefully shows it's not progressing to anything else and is all business as usual. I think my spotting seems to be slowing today, which is a nice surprise. But I'll keep an eye on it. Would be day 10 or so of spotting I think.

RD15 · 20/03/2018 19:16

That’s great news that it is slowing down! You might be able to relax a bit more xx

@RD15 I hope so. Am cautiously optimistic. I suffer from health anxiety though so maybe I'll find something else to focus on!!

Do you have an early scan scheduled at all?

Magpie24 · 20/03/2018 19:19

A further one I mean!

ForEverlong · 20/03/2018 19:21

Pink and brown are normal - there’s a lot going on in there that can disturb your lining and cause pink spotting and even breakthrough bleeding. Red indicates a potential issue. Whilst personal experiences are varied and therefore not a lot of help I had pink/brown heavy spotting for two weeks shortly after my first bfp and a full pretty heavy red bleed for three days after my second. Both are in bed upstairs

RD15 · 20/03/2018 19:45

Thanks for the positive @ForEverlong - that’s lovely! So glad it worked out for you.

@Magpie24, no, no plans for a further scan. Such a coincidence, I’ve suffered from health anxiety too! I had an awful time in my first pregnancy and worried about everything going. I was especially bad about what you can and can’t eat, and food hygiene. To be honest, the whole 9 months was a nightmare as I did have quite a few genuine health problems (constant UTIs, anemia, bleeding etc.) but all turned out absolutely perfect in the end. I had CBT and I think that does help with strategies to subdue the anxiety xx

Magpie24 · 21/03/2018 15:47

@RD15 how are things today? I'm actually having a CBT referral at the moment, so fx it helps out!

RD15 · 21/03/2018 16:03

No change here... STILL spotting 😩. It’s driving me nuts. I’m back at the midwife tomorrow for the rest of my booking appointment, so I’ll mention it then. I’m actually considering booking a private scan for when I’m 9 weeks or so if it continues to be honest.

How are things with you? I think you will find that the CBT does help- it can be quite tough going, but I think it really helped me xx

@RD15 not bad thanks but so so tired today. Glad I'm working from home!

Let me know what the midwife says. Still a little spotting for me so I think it's improving... but only time will tell.

I think a 9 week scan is a great idea.

Mooana · 22/03/2018 01:48

Just joining in the stress and worry here as DH is fast asleep.

I'm 5+4 and have had very light spotting for three days. I was reassured by the GP but now the spotting seems to be ramping up. It's all feeling very 'game over' . I don't think it's going to be worth trying to get a scan as I guess it wouldn't show anything anyway at this early stage.

Just feeling pretty rubbish about it. My first pregnancy was derailed at the 20-week scan (I have a healthy lo now, but with a physical disability) And now I think I'm probably not going to get anywhere with this second pregnancy.

I went cold turkey off my anxiety meds last week too, as soon as I found out, so I've been feeling emotionally awful anyway. Not to mention dizzy and exhausted.

I really hate the first trimester.

Magpie24 · 22/03/2018 08:14

@Mooana that sounds so stressful I'm sorry you've been having a rough time. I'm on day 15 or so of pale brown spotting (off and on) and it's not developed into anything else yet so fx for you. It really is an anxious time i agree with you. What are your plans for today?

Magpie24 · 22/03/2018 08:15

Actually day 12, sorry calendar fail!

SpidersWilliesOnYourFrillys · 22/03/2018 08:22

Hi all, I have had brown spotting from Sunday night I’m 5 weeks 1 day today. It’s been on and off my epu are seeing me on Monday.

I am a bundle of nerves every time I use the bathroom, i had one wipe sorry for the tmi that had bright red blood but then it stopped again, epu said to come down if it got heavier but that was over 17 hours ago and nothing since only light brown

Mooana · 22/03/2018 09:39

Thank you so much for the solidarity @Magpie24. I'm meant to be working this afternoon so I have fitted in a GP visit this morning. I'm going to ask for blood tests to see if the hormone levels look ok.

I wasn't sure whether to even ask for a scan as I'm only 5+4. I didn't think anything would show? How are you doing?

@SpidersWilliesOnYourFrillys best of luck with the appointment on Monday. Any idea what they'll do at this early stage?

SpidersWilliesOnYourFrillys · 22/03/2018 09:47

@moona the midwife o spoke to said they would do an internal and hopefully see baby developing. Good luck with your GP appt today 🙂 x

RD15 · 22/03/2018 10:15

Hi ladies,

@SpiderWilliesOnYourFrillys and @Mooana so sorry to hear you’ve been having the same problem. It really does fill you with trepidation when you go to the bathroom. I actually think I’m getting used to seeing it! I hope things go ok with your appointments. In terms of an early scan, at 5+4 they should be able to see that it is in the right place, but other than that it would be inconclusive as you’re unlikely to see a heartbeat before 6 weeks, so sometimes it can cause more anxiety.
Hopefully it’ll settle down for all of us 💕. Let us know how you get on xxxx

Mooana · 22/03/2018 15:55

Hi all, how are you getting on? Any updates?

I saw the GP this morning and he suggested doing bloods but also referred me to EPU. He wanted to refer me for tomorrow, but I'd only be 5+5 so I don't think it'll be very reassuring! We agreed that I'd go on Monday, when I'll be 6+1.

Sadly I didn't get the bloods done, which is so frustrating as results would have been in tonight! But I'd already been waiting there for ages with my increasingly annoyed toddler and just couldn't wait any longer for the bloods as I needed to get to work Envy

I'm so up and down! I was utterly distraught last night and this morning when the bleeding was worse as I was convinced it was game over. But now the bleeding is a bit less, I'm all rational and am wondering if it might all be ok. I'm really nervous about going to the EPU as I get very twitchy when I think I'm being judged for my anxiety - which I'm sure I am!

I'm not entirely sure what to expect for Monday. I guess there's no time to get a letter to me and GP didn't give me a time, he just said he'd refer me for Monday. Not sure whether I'm supposed to just rock up if I don't have any information before then? Hmm

What a rollercoaster!

RD15 · 22/03/2018 18:19

Hi Mooana,

Try not to worry about what other people think about your anxiety. Pregnancy is an anxiety inducing time, even for people who aren’t prone to day-to-day anxiety, and with the added misfortune of bleeding, it’s only natural that you’ll feel anxious. I worry about everything going, and should really step away from google! Anxiety is so common and nothing to be ashamed of.

I hope everything goes ok on Monday. I just tried to reassure myself that if the worst happened, it’s likeky for a reason and it’s completely out of my hands. Your bleeding has slowed down though so I’m sure that’s a great sign! Do keep us updated and try to distract yourself until Monday 💕 xxx

How is everyone doing today? Mercifully, my spotting seems to have stopped for the time being xxx

Magpie24 · 23/03/2018 17:29

Hello @RD15 mine seems to have stopped too! Are you feeling a bit better about things now?

RD15 · 23/03/2018 18:15

Ah such good news @Magpie24! So pleased for you. Yes, I do feel a bit more relaxed. Although I’m now in the OCD hand washing phase 😂🙈 xx

OP posts:
Magpie24 · 24/03/2018 08:44

@RD15 there's always something to move onto with anxiety isn't there! Are you suffering from morning sickness yet?

Mooana · 26/03/2018 23:20

Hi @RD15 and @Magpie24 - just checking in to see how you're both getting on. How're things going?

I'm 6 + 2 and have had no bleeding for a few days - thank goodness, I honestly couldn't handle the uncertainty! I've also started feeling queasy and am getting the super bloats again (I was in maternity trousers by 7 weeks last time due to bloating!!) So I'm really hopeful that all of that is positive!

Finally managed to get my blood test this morning, second one is on Wednesday (no appointments tomorrow alas!) to track the hormone levels and am going to avoid the EPU like the plague unless something looks wrong with the hormone levels.

I'm getting very close to doing another Clear Blue digital test to see if I've gone up the weeks... but I partly suspect that that way lies madness!!

I really hope things are going ok for you both xx

Magpie24 · 27/03/2018 09:19

@Mooana thanks for checking in! All good here too :) keeping my fingers crossed for all of us.

BanyanTree · 27/03/2018 09:28

Have you had your progesterone levels checked. I was spotting and my P levels were low. Not sure if both are connected but once my doc gave me prog supplements the bleeding stopped.
