SPD at 5+2

I felt that awful hip pain today for the first time and it's not easing off.
I'm only 5+2 - last time I didn't feel it until mid 2nd trimester.
I'm about 9lbs heavier this time and with a history of hip problems as a child and spd last time I was pregnant, I knew it was coming but I am HORRIFIED that it's rearing it's butt ugly head this early!

Have you tried an osteopath? I had this in my first pregnancy but in my second pregnancy the Osteo made such a massive difference x

I haven't. Last time I went to physio, I went to water therapy, had all kinds of bump & hip supports, not a lot helped and I felt like I was constantly on painkillers.

Is an osteopath expensive? I'm thinking I won't be able to see one on the nhs?

@SciFiRocker join the club! I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and I get it every day. Hot water bottles are great.

I've mentioned it to the GP and Midwives at every appointment and they've just said that there's nothing that can really be done. Fingers crossed you get a better outcome :)

It depends on the individual Osteo I suppose but I was paying around £35.00 for a 40 min session but it was worth it! The nhs unfortunately don’t provide osteopathy and I have to say although the nhs are brilliant in many ways I’ve never had results from nhs physiotherapists.

Make sure any Osteo you see is fully registered and trained for pregnant ladies. I can’t tell you how much of a difference it made to me. My first pregnancy was unbearable towards the end and nothing helped. I was on crutches and had a corset/support belt and was almost in a wheelchair with itz. Wish I’d known about Osteo and I do believe the earlier you go the better - good luck. I know how bloody awful spd can be xx

Chiropractor and pilates three times a week kept me upright and mobile in last pregnancy rather than on crutches. It can be done but had to be really disciplined with exercising.

Another 35 weeks of this! 😢

This is why I waited so long before we tried for number 2!
It's only going to get worse.

I'll have a look into osteo but honestly I don't think we can afford it.
