Arrrgh sorry I couldn't find a more suitable topic to post this. Please move if need be.

Doctor has recently put me on cerazette, however after reading around it seems to be quite common for people to fall pregnant whilst taking this type of pill?! I wondered if anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks

I took it for 7 years with no problem.

Hotpinkangel19 · 12/03/2018 14:51

Same, 7 years and 5 years before that too

Same here. Before I got pregnant (on purpose!) I was on cerazette and used to get really paranoid about pregnancy because I didn't always get a period each month. I'd google cerazette and read forum stories about getting pregnant by accident. But I then concluded people only ever write to forums when something unexpected happens, and they probably weren't taking the pill regularly and properly. Cerazette (and all POPs) are up there in terms of effectiveness, so not to worry at all!

Took it for several years with no issues and no unwanted pregnancies

I was on that pill for years, I definitely didn't fall pregnant on it as it took me about a year to conceive after coming off it.

I got put onto this (and the non-brand version called Feanolla which is exactly the same) and it worked for 3 years until I decided to get pregnant and I fell pregnant straight away when I came off it.

TartanDr3ams · 12/03/2018 16:22

Ive took it for 10 years no pregnancy. Its getting pregnant after coming off it that im struggling with!

anotherchangetomyname · 12/03/2018 20:24

It's not common at all. Cerezette (and it's generics) are 99.8% effective if taken as prescribed. Yes, a few people get pregnant on it, but they mainly have forgotten to take a pill, vomitted or had loose stools. Very occasionally obese women will fall pregnant on any hormonal contraception due to fat cells storing the hormones rather than them circulating in the blood and doing their job.

Take it correctly and you'll be fine.

12 years on it and it's worked fine for me. Added advantage of no periods too!

TroysMammy · 12/03/2018 20:31

I've been on it for over 13 years and have never had a pregnancy scare. Never had one and I've been on the pill, different types for 33 years.

Casmama · 12/03/2018 20:31

10 years on it and the only pregnancy was a planned one when I came off it and got pregnant the first month of trying.
