HG survivors - When did you peak?

I’m currently 10 weeks and just been in hospital for an overnight stay getting iv fluids and meds. I’m praying things will start to look up in the next week or so. When did you peak and then start to feel better?

I was worst weeks 6-9. Started to improve gradually around 11 weeks. Now 15+6 and whilst still definitely a bit sicky and feeling nauseous, I can go a whole day without vomiting sometimes!

That’s promising news didnt. I’m glad you’re starting to feel better.

My worst was weeks 6-12 and I was pretty much back to normal by week 17, although I still had days of feeling nauseous.

Weeks 6-14 were truely horrific. The rest were slightly less so

HG is horrific, you poor thing. I was in hosp around the same time as you, now approx 19 weeks and feel AMAZING compared to then.

Stick it out, you're doing the worst bit now, just take each day as it comes and give yourself a pat on the back for each day survived!

I was horrendously ill, like bed bound ill from weeks 6-14ish then it started gradually improving, I went back to work part-time when I was about 18 weeks and now at 26 weeks I can finally say that other than some nausea in the mornings, worse travel sickness than before and worse sensitivity to certain smells that cause nausea as well as some nausea when brushing my teeth, it has almost completely gone in the last week or so. Hang in there .

I think I was at my worst 8 to 14 weeks much better by 18/19 weeks. I was in and out of hospital with both pregnancies and bed bound the rest of the time.

Weeks 6-10 were the worst, although still bad until week 18-ish

Thanks everyone. It looks like I need to resign myself to probably being pretty ill for at least another month which I’m quite gutted about. Still that might mean I’ve got less left to go than I’ve already done. It really gets you down after a while.

I was sick 10+ times a day for the whole forty weeks, I was still vomiting in labour. After the first trimester I did manage to get out of the house for a few walks but not much else. It runs in my family unfortunately, and is the reason DD will be an only child. OP I hope yours clears up soon and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy, it is so so hard . I had a very easy labour and birth as the pay off for the nine months of hell through, so it wasn't all bad!

HG came on at 6 weeks in both pg, ramped up quickly and was truly horrific until 18 weeks, when it completely switched off.

I lost count of how long I spent in hospital.

Everyone said it would get better at 12 weeks, then they said 16. The reality is I vomited till 32 weeks with both. I feel like my babies are more precious to me because of what I went through!

Once I got the HG under control with drugs which took til wk11 and wk9 in respective pregnancies I was then able to function reasonably well - would be sick 3-4 times per day but that was compared to 20+ times so in comparison felt pretty good! I was also lucky that around 20 weeks I was able to come off drugs and had no more vomiting.

The thing with HG is every pregnancy is so different let alone every woman. Best of luck to you, it’s a miserable time but a strong indicator that your baby is doing well even if you aren’t

I should’ve added that I appear to have been INCREDIBLY fortunate!

I went from ‘lying in bed listlessly sipping lucozade’ to ‘mostly okay’ in a few weeks.

I had quite severe hyperemesis as Ondansetron, Cyclizine and Metraclopromide would only work intravenously and they refused to give me steroids until I was in the second trimester. Weeks 7- 24 were horrendous. I didn't leave my bed except to go to hospital. I'm 38 weeks now and still vomiting despite the steroids. I hope the HG ends quickly for you.
