Spotting after BM

I’m 6 weeks pregnant and noticed on Thursday that I had a tiny bit of pink spotting after I’d been for a number 2. I am constipated so did strain a little. No more blood afterwards. Until today when I went for a number 2 again and strained again and there was again a tiny bit of blood from my vagina on wiping. I think the two are related so not particularly worried I don’t think. Anyone else had this?

hiya and yup it can be common.

its probably red/pink now and may/will turn brown in a day or so as old blood so time to get to chemist and get a stool softener such as Laxido which is safe in pregnancy which just helps everything liquify and pass easier. Trust me its a blessing for it to work and it does really well.

Do mention it to a midwife or doctor though if worried so they can reassure you.

laxido is prescription or you can buy over counter at boots/chemist etc.

Thanks @gryffen there was literally the tiniest bit of pink on wiping. It was just one wipe too so really was hardly anything. I didn’t bleed at all in my last pregnancy, this one is completely different already!

I had this yesterday. I have had no more spotting since but I did strain a lot at the time! I've got my booking appointment so will tell the midwife then.

Hi Meredith, I’m 6 weeks too and having similar symptoms to you. The discharge had started last Thurs but seems to have been tapering off the last few days. I’m also having period like cramping too.

Booked in for a scan at the EPU tomorrow so keeping crossed 😥

It is so hard to know what is’normal’ and what isn’t.

Hiya

Yeah any straining or irritation to the area can cause spotting- total freak out as I've had it too so deal with it sooner than being really bad later with constipation etc.

Good luck all
