Hi. I know this post is nearly 8 years old but I had my 20 week scan on Friday baby was all fine, growing well even gave us a wave and a yawn. :-) first baby. They did the uterine artery doppler at the end when she gave me and hubby the results she said there is increase blood flow. Sonographer said absolutely nothing to worry about it just means I get one extra scan. I asked if I could be doing anything different or better and she said nothing at all, perfect weight perfect blood pressure, urine samples etc.
Has anyone else had this as I am the worst worrier and google is not much comfort... thanks ladies xxx

Yes, I had this. It often corrects itself by 28 weeks. Mine didn't, so I was then closely monitored. They decided the situation got too risky and delivered my baby at 34 weeks. She was small but is doing fine now. A friend had the same at 20 weeks and hers corrected itself and the rest of her pregnancy was normal. Hopefully yours will be fine by the next scan. If not, expect lots of monitoring.

Thanks so much for your response!! It seemed odd when she said baby would be small if I had extra blood pumping through I would expect that if I had decreased/not enough blood, she didn’t then explain much further other than there being nothing to worry about.

It is increased blood flow resistance in the uterine arteries which is a cause of growth restriction. We do 28 and 36weeks scans and offer induction at 41weeks. Also puts at increased risk of pre eclampsia
