30 weeks pregnant and have a party to go to next week, one of the children has chicken pox. Should I avoid or is it safe? I’ve had chickenpox I think so I’m immune but not sure if being in third trimester is an issue? Also my dd hasn’t had it yet so she might catch it but I guess she needs to get it sooner or later but is it ok for me to be around and furthermore, will she even be contagious next week it they know she has it now?

They scab over normally within 5-7 days so it depends when she first came out in spots. Once scabbed they are no longer contagious

Ah ok think she came out yesterday so should be fine! Can children only catch it once?

It's fairly rare to get it multiple times but it can happen

I work in a school and yesterday we had to send home a girl with chicken pox. Mum wasn't sure what the spots were but it was very clear it was chiken pox. I am 31 weeks pregnant and it is the third time that this has happened since I got pregnant. Midwife has always said that if I had chicken pox as a child there is no risk however she said that they do not advice to put yourself in contact with chicken pox during pregnancy if you can avoid it completely. In my case it is impossible but still safe Smile
