When to see midwife ?

Hi
I know in the past I’ve had first midwife appointment at about 10 weeks.
Is that the same if you are an older mum?
I’m now 42 and 5 weeksnoregnant and haven’t seen any healthcare professional yet.
Am I a higher risk ? Should I be asking to see someone sooner ?
Thanks

You will be higher risk but there's no point in seeing anyone earlier - that's for later in pregnancy if all works out. Even the first midwife appointment is just a history taking and can happen at any time up to the dating scan.

Thanks for the reply
Guess I will leave it for a while then

I was booked to see MW at 8 weeks 😊 I rang and left details when I was about 5/6weeks and MW rang me a week later to book it in. I'd give them a ring as mine was really busy and had had 17 women that week to sort appointments for!

In my area our booking in appointments are usually done between 8-10 weeks so they can send off for a dating scan appointment between 12-14 weeks. I'd contact your GP or community midwife for an appointment in a few weeks time. Good luck!

8-10 weeks is the usual, doesn't hurt to phone up and get booked in though as the longer 'booking in' slots can get full quite quickly.

I would give your surgery a call. In my area they don't see you until 8/9 weeks but I rang to make my appointment on Tuesday and the first appointment was 5th April! And with my first child, I didn't find out I was pregnant until about 6 weeks, my booking in appt was after the 12 week scan due to availability.
