Stupidly took ibuprofen

I'm 14 weeks (3rd dc) and have the cold from hell that is just not going away. Woke up this morning and knew I needed to take something as I have a busy day and I feel awful. This is the first time I've needed pain killers so far.

Stupidly I had some painkillers out the box and really thought I picked up paracetamol. But it was ibuprofen. I only took 1, not 2 as I literally realised as I was swallowing it that it wasn't paracetamol.

I've taken a low dose as I didn't take 2 but I'm having a little panic.

Baby should be ok shouldn't it? X

I think, although I'm by no means an expert, that the beginning and end of the pregnancy are the worst times to take it, and that there's far less risk in around the gestation that you are. I really don't think half a dose is going to have done any harm, but by all means call your midwife for some reassurance.

If it makes you feel better, when I was about 12 I had some horrible virus thing. I was snoozing in my bedroom and my mum came in to give me what she thought was a dose of paracetamol and some of the neurogenic melt tablets. Turned out afterwards that the 'nurofen' were actually cocodamol. Nothing like giving your child a paracetamol overdose! I didn't half sleep well though...

I don't think 1 pill is going to harm anything. It's after 30 weeks that could be the real issue. If you are really worried just call your gp and get some reassurance :) x
