I'm 11+1 with twins and I'm about to go out of my mind.

I cannot sleep! I'm not dropping off until around 1am and waking up again at 5am. I'm already on two types of anti nausea meds for severe nausea/vomiting. I'm utterly exhausted and have a constant headache. I haven't been to work for three weeks and I'm at the end of my tether. I'm so ill/miserable.

Is there anything I can take when pregnant to help me sleep? The night before last I took some herbal sleep aids which really helped. I know I shouldn't though, so didn't again. I'm just utterly utterly fed up and hating every second of my very hard fought for pregnancySad

I just wanted to say isthismummy massive congrats on your pregnancy, it’s bloody fantastic to hear and I’m totally delighted for you!

Re the sleep deprivation, have you tried turning off the heating in your room? When I was preg I found a freezing room helpful for sleep. Also try a pregnancy pillow, the really long one is good, cant remember what it’s called but it’s basically nearly the length of a person and you can wrap your aching limbs around it for comfort. Are you eating little and often? The only time I didn’t feel sick was when I was eating. Ketchupy chips were a massive favourite! Try listening to apps like Ted Talks and audio books to take your mind off it. Might help you drift off. Failing that, maybe see a really good acupuncturist, it’s worth a shot as they can work wonders.

I’ve heard that nausea is a sign that the hormones are strong so the worse the nausea, the stronger your hormones, not exactly words of comfort right now, but healthy! Good luck xxx

Thank you very much Weedance I hope things are well with you?

I turn heating off a few hours before bed, so room is fairly cool. I've not got a pregnancy pillow yet. They look huge! Our beds quite a small double, so not sure if it would fit.

I can get to sleep, but then I wake up three times to wee, before finally getting to sleep to wake up at 5am. Poor DH has been banished to the couch cos I can't bare him in bed with me. We have no spare room, so I feel really bad for him.

I have mild HG, so eating is quite tricky. I've been living off toast and coco pops for three weeks now. These babies will come out looking like puffed rice at this rate. I just hope it starts to improve soon because I'm no use to anyone.

I tried acupuncture before for infertility, but I hated it! It just made me feel ill. Having said that it did make me sleep, so that's something to think about...

Thank you so much for responding. Take care.

Unfortunately I can’t reassure you as I am 31 weeks and have slept badly throughout - it seems to be a four-hourly sleep cycle for me (and possibly for you given your timings), so I can easily drop off at 9-10pm because I am knackered but then awake at 1-2am and unable to get back to sleep for hours, by which time I need to get up for work.

The only things I have managed are to sleep alone (I decamp to spare room in the middle of the night - you have resolved this with sofa!) and to give in and read a book or listen to an audiobook until I finally drop off again, rather than lie awake getting frustrated. I also feel so much better when I manage a nap during the day to make up for it, but as I work during the week that can only really happen at weekends

Anyway, you have my sympathy!
