What should the waters breaking be like?

I've done this before but my waters were broke in hospital with dd so.. I just remember a bit of a trickle but not a major one like everyone makes out. That was when they broke half of them.
So I'm 37 weeks today and I noticed earlier the back of my pants/trousers were soaked (definitely not pee) and it's just happened again as soon as I've put some new ones on. But it's sorta soaked around the back area if that makes sense? Probably how I'm sitting. I'm having to change again. Just had a pain but I think it was more braxton hicks..
Getting worried what are you experiences?

That happened to me at 37 weeks. It was my hind waters going. When my fore waters went it was far more dramatic. You need to call and let your midwife know. You will likely be booked for induction in 48 hours if you haven't got into labour by yhe point, due to infection risk, but you can opt to go in for daily monitoring if you prefer.

Put a fresh pad and and lie down for 30 mins. Then stand up and see what happens. If you get a little gush it's likely your hind waters. Smells a bit like straw.

Mine was soooo slight. I wasn’t sure if it was my imagination or I’d peed a bit. I went in to get checked but it had completely stopped by then so I felt stupid even being there... and then she said it was my waters. And then about half an hour afterwards they gushed everywhere, I went to the toilet and it just kept coming out and I wasn’t sure if it was still my waters or I was peeing. It was weird.

Second time they only went when his head was crowning

FranticallyPeaceful · 08/03/2018 16:46

And go in and get checked, they get it all the time. No need to be worried x

Oysterbabe · 08/03/2018 16:46

With my first it was a constant but unmistakable trickle. With my second it was a movies style gush.

Twocatsonebaby · 08/03/2018 16:58

Last time with dd numerous times I went in for leaking discharge. It was genuinely like peeing myself. Although again, not pee. White in colour.. I'm going to lie down and see after 30 mins. If so I'll go in

How are you OP?

Twocatsonebaby · 08/03/2018 21:22

It completely stopped after and I'm not in any pain.
Got my notes for numbers for the hospital close though and my mom on standby incase I need to dash to hospital so she can look after dd. I don't think It was my waters looking back but its been so helpful to read the comments. If I get one more unusual pain though or anymore I'm going straight to be seen

For me it was like some one had dropped a bucket of spermy water all over the bathroom floor! It stank.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 08/03/2018 21:57

Just in case it was your hind waters and a little premature rupture of membranes - no sex! Just in case of infection. Keep an eye on your temperature if you have a thermometer.

Bobbiepin · 08/03/2018 22:01

It's worth calling in OP. There is a small but notable infection risk so even if you're in and out its very useful for the midwives to know if your waters have gone, or they will be able to tell you if they are still in tact. Good luck!!

My waters breaking were the hind waters first and that was like I had wet myself a bit. Midwife checked and said I'd have to go to hospital in morning if I had not started labour yet. That was 11 in the afternoon. Waters broke at 2am when I was in bed. It was like I had wet myself or a really gushy period which wouldn't stop! Every time I got up I leaked everywhere. Soaked through pads getting to hospital too.

Mine was a massive gush in the middle of the night! It just kept coming, I remember just having to stand in the bath whilst it all came out! My hubby and I were very shocked at how much there was! 🙈

Twocatsonebaby · 09/03/2018 10:46

:o a friend of mine said his partners was like a theatrical gush like you see in films! I can't really remember mine being broken with dd. Just it didn't feel like much at all but I think they struggled to break them in all honesty :/ I don't think it was them last night, I think just discharge again. It kept happening with dd and i was always in triage 😂

This definitely sounds like waters OP. Agree with PP it sounds like your hind waters have gone. As you’re over 37weeks now you should call it in as they may well just break the rest of them for you! Infection is something you don’t want to risk. Good luck! Flowers

Mine went probably ten hours into labour, the midwives said they were "bulging" from the start but we're taking a while I had quite a bit of pressure, went for a wee and got more pressure and they went which was a dramatic gush, I then felt like I was wetting myself every 5 minutes
