I'm a FTM and clearly worry loads 😱😂
I think I feel him moving, quite a lot today if I am right (normally in work so maybe why I don't normally?)
How often should I be feeling him does any one know? Sometimes I feel a slight little wiggle then nothing for hours?
I know I panic 🙈
Thanks x

You will soon get to know what is normal for your baby as they grow. It's not really until after 28 weeks that you get a set pattern and it's normally before that to go for a while without any. It's usually due to a position change as they're still quite small.

If you're ever worried, do call your community midwives. Maternity assessment doesn't usually monitor movements until after 28 weeks but community can have a quick listen to heartbeat if you're ever worried!

Also have a look at the Kicks Count website www.kickscount.org.uk/ which I found really useful in the early days!

I'm 22 wks too and some days she moves (and pummels!) me loads and others no so much. I think it partly depends what I'm doing as I notice it more when sat around but less so doing stuff.

I've started to notice most movement first thing in the morning before I drag myself out of bed and around 9pm while watching telly. Then there's the odd movement throughout the day

I'm 21 weeks with DC2 and have felt a wide variety of movement over the last couple of weeks. DS doesn't really have a pattern yet, but neither did my DD even at the end!

He usually moves about when I get back from dropping DD at preschool (up until that point I've been rushing about getting us ready, which usually makes them go to sleep), lunchtime, once I've sat down from doing DD's dinner, and once DD is in bed and DH and I are eating/watching TV. Then sometimes a little bit when I go to bed. Not usually in the night, which was DD's favourite time!

When I do feel him moving it's either little wriggles, sharp pokes or the feeling of a big bubble popping.

I've sent that msg and this morning she's been eerily quiet and now I'm on edge!

I am 22 weeks also, he kicks a lot now my partner first felt him on the outside at 18 weeks now it’s very easy to feel him on the outside multiple times in a row, he tends to have awake and sleep patterns and will kick a lot for 15 mins then nothing for a few hours. During the night he’s awake a lot but I sure hope that changes when he’s born lol

Mine is a total night owl. Luckily so am I! It doesn’t move at all until after lunch, had a leisurely afternoon then really gets going between 8pm and midnight. Thumping me now. I’m 23 weeks.

So I got a bit paranoid yesterday as movements had been minimal compared to normal and not following the usual pattern.

I called the hospital and she said she wasn't concerned as I'd still felt some movement and it's normal for their patterns to change at this time.

I had to drink a glass of icy cold water, lie on my left and pay attention to movements. If I was still worried after 2hrs then I was to call back and could go in for a listen.

She started moving again about half hr later and back to normal this morning. Phew!

Just thought I'd share the advice! Smile

That's good and thank you.
