Since I've been pregnant I've noticed that my urine is always a dark yellow, and I've been waking up early in the mornings with a dry mouth. I have been drinking a lot more than usual, and normally this would leave me with quite clear urine. Do I need to start drinking even more? I usually have a glass of fruit juice in the mornings, followed by copious amounts of decaff tea during the day, with a 500ml water bottle on the go at my desk as well. Too much tea perhaps?

Watching as I've also noticed the same. Purposely trying to drink my 2+ litres, but never seen to get more than 2 litres in.

Omg I drink so much more now I'm pregnant! Water is the biggest craving of my pregnancy, followed by flavoured milk and orange juice.

Overnight a pint glass of water doesn't cut it anymore, so we take a jug of water to bed - maybe three pints or more. I generally drink two thirds by morning but occasionally all of it.

I figure if I want it this much and I'm not peeing that much more than I would pregnant anyway I must need it.

I had this last pregnancy and now I'm early pregnant again it's come back! A pint of water in the night isn't cutting it either. I really thought there was something wrong with me and told the midwife and she sent me for the gestational diabetes test which came back negative. This time around I think I've learned I'm just bloody thirsty and to listen to my body. So drink! My lips are chapped too!

Yes I've had the diabetes test as well and it was negative, so it's just thirst.

I’ll take a bottle of water to bed with me tonight.
I find if I drink too much water I feel totally bloated though. Can’t win!

I told my midwife about this at my first appointment she said it’s normal to have darker urine as we are more likely to be dehydrated during pregnancy because our body goes through lots of changes. She just said to drink like 2 cups more of water than you would a day or something similar. But now I’ve been hit with constipation! Sorry tmi! Only 15 weeks.
