Hello,
I still haven't heard from my midwife and I am coming up to 10 weeks pregnant. I have been waiting 7 weeks for them to call and when I try chasing up via my gp, they tell me to just keep waiting. Getting a little worried now I have been forgotten Hmm
Is it normal to wait this long? When was your booking in appointment?

Mine was at 10 weeks both time. They’re cutting it a bit fine if you haven’t even got an appointment through at 10 weeks, as they will need to request your dating scan which needs to be done by a certain date if you want to have the screening.

Mine was 11+3, but I didn't contact the midwife until gone 8 weeks. Do you need a midwife appointment to get a 12 week scan date? I didn't so it really didn't matter that I saw her 'late' - people see the booking in appointment as a big milestone, but it's just you giving her a load of information, they can't tell you anything about how the pregnancy is progressing at that point.

We must have posted our topics at the same time as I have just asked this question too! I'm only 5 weeks but spoke to my GP for the first time today and he filled in my referral. Mine told me to expect to hear when I am 10-12 weeks. Seems very late to me though for a first appointment but really I have no clue as it's my first baby

With my previous pregnancies I saw the community midwife at my doctor surgery when I first found out and after that I wasn't seen until 12 weeks where they did the booking appointment and scan at same time.

Now 6 weeks pregnant living in a different area and I was referred to midwives through my GP and was told I'd get an appointment through about 10 weeks for booking in.

I think it depends on the area. Have you chosen your hospital? You should be able to find the number for the antenatal clinic you have been referred to so maybe try giving them a call rather than the GP.

Ah my midwife had to request the scan date from the hospital.

Sorry I should have said- The midwife will make the appointment for the 12 week scan which is why I'm a little worried they are leaving it late as I don't want to miss the screenings. Thank you for replies so far.. I will try and find the number for the midwife clinic directly :)

I was seen at 8 weeks, I would be tempted to call the hospital antenatal clinic directly to chase the appointment rather than the GP surgery.
