Blood Tests

Hiya,

Wondered if you could shed some light on blood tests etc (although it might be different in other areas).

Basically, i had my booking in appointment with the midwife, who just took my blood pressure and stuck a stick in my wee sample. She also told me that she was going to refer me to the consultant because of my BMI.

I got a letter from the hospital giving me an appointment with the consultant, and asking me to bring the results of my booking in blood tests with me.

Trouble is, no one has taken any blood from me and i'm not sure if they should have! i dont know if i'm supposed to just go along to my hospital, take a number and sit and wait (a la Tesco stylee) or what!

Also, when i go for the nuchal scan, will i need blood results for that too or will they take fresh blood from me?

I'm confused! help anyone?!!!!

Different hospitals have different procedures. Call your MW and ask her.

My booking in appointment was the same as yours, loads of questions, wee sample, blood pressure and another stack of booklets to read.
I had my first lot of blood tests at my 12 week scan, then just had another lot done at my 28 week midwife appointment.
I think that's about standard, but if you're not sure I'd give your midwife a call. The hospital might just have sent out a standard letter.
