Hi all,

First post, just found out I'm pregnant - its my first pregnancy and I'm delighted about it. I could do with a bit of advice. I'm really busy with work, a lot of it freelance, and I just dont know how to reward myself or perk myself up anymore. In the mornings I used to have many, many coffees to get myself going and help me power through everything, and in the evenings when I had work on I'd make my way through it with a large glass of wine. Now I can't really have either or those things and I'm struggling to find suitable alternatives.

Any help or advice would be mint thanks!

Jess

Why can’t you have coffee ?
I only drink tea as I don’t like coffee but I would not stop drinking tea.

Maybe buy yourself a hot chocolate instead !?

Crisps? Chocolate? I'm not going to bother suggesting healthy alternatives!

You might develop an aversion to both anyway - I went off both coffee and the taste of alcohol very early on (before bfp hence drinking!) and developed a craving for hula hoops...

I have cut back my caffeine consumption but it goes further as my tolerance has decreased.

You can still have a coffee, just not lots! 200mg of caffeine a day is actually a few caffeinated drinks. I'm missing my wine though!

Mumsnet cliche but once you're past the first trimester a pregnancy spa treatment is bliss!

Shloer is an amazing wine replacement!
Not sure about day time treats. I've been eating too many sweets and chocolate which I feel bad about! :/

Sounds a bit lame now I’m no longer pregnant and back on the booze, but I really got into sparkling water and would buy really silly expensive stuff as a treat.

Do you like coconut water? Or iced tea?

Twitchett22 · 06/03/2018 20:22

Don't quit coffee or you'll go insane! Just maybe only have a couple. I totally feel for you with the glass of wine at the end of the day, that's what I've struggled with the most. It does pass though, it's just breaking the habit. Eat whatever the hell you want! But im not gonna lie, pregnancy is shit for treating yourself etc. As you get further on though you'll reward yourself with buying baby clothes Wink

Naps. Take naps whenever you can!

TheCatsMother44 · 06/03/2018 20:45

Dont cut out your coffee entirely, just have one or two a day as your treat.

You might find you get a craving for something else and that will become your treat anyway.
