Hi,

I'm currently 35+5 with my first and looking to put together a basket of useful or necessary items, such as Sudocrem, thermometer etc that it may be a good idea to have

What have you got or what did you have that was brilliant / useless?

Thanks,

Nasal aspirator is a must to suck snot out! I've got the bulb one from Mothercare and it's very good.

There’s not much you can use on a newborn but my MIL put together something like this for us with DD and it was useful in the longer term:

  • nail scissors and clippers (could include scratch mits)
  • baby hairbrush
  • all sorts of baby toiletries
  • some colic drops
  • a calpol plug in vaporiser thing
  • Ashton and parsons teething powders
  • snufflebabe

Calpol plugins and refills
Emry boards
Scratch mits
Snufflebabes
Gummee scratch mitts or gummeeglove
Ear or forehead thermometer
Hair comb and brush
MAM gum cleaning mitt.

A lot of big shops sell a Tommee Tipee kit for hair and nails etc that's good. First aid kit is just basics like sufocream and Conotrane.
