So I've been to my first consultantnt appointment this morning im 20+3.
The first thing the consultant said to me is "please tell me you have been taking aspirin" which i haven't.. no one has told me to. She said i should have been having it from 12 weeks and it's too late to start now.
I didn't develop p.e until 40weeks with dd and i was induced at 40+5.
Why is it too late now??? I'm only half way surely it can't do any harm to start?
Has any had any previous experience of this or any advice please.
Thanks :) x

I'm on Aspirin since 12 weeks but when discussing this with consultants was told it's more for prevention of DVT as opposed to managing BP (even though it is slightly high).
NICE recommend use of low dose aspirin if there is a previous history of PE but no guidance with regards to it being too late to start at 20 weeks

Best advice would be to ask consultant.midwife why, especially considering your history which I assumes may put you in the moderate risk group.

I had pre eclampsia first time round, onset at 35 weeks, emcs at 36+6 with high blood pressure for weeks after. I wasn't told to take aspirin at all second time, wasn't given bp meds either when it did start to rise. I

Oh dear foggy did you have your LO safely? X
And i am classed as high risk and have been since booking appointment walker . I have increased monitoring so have to see the consultants every 3 weeks and mw every week. I'll see my mw on monday coming and discuss starting it with her. I just find it strange they say it won't help going forward xx

Yes he was and is fine! He's 3 now. He was a fine weight, was in scbu for a few days due to breathing issues and jaundice but nothing serious.

foggy that's great! Yay.
Your emc was that for your first child or your second? If it was your first how did your second pregnancy go? Xx

Emcs was first child, ds2 ended in an "elective" section because my waters had been gone 40 hours, it wasn't an elective in that I chose it, I had no choice. I didn't have pre eclampsia the second time, "just" high BP.

Ah i see! It's good you didn't get p.e again and didn't have aspirin, gives me hope :) x
