Im 20 weeks pregnant and a secondary school teacher, not quite showing yet unless in fitted clothes, kids haven't started asking anything yet but no doubt will soon. Just wondered when people have told are or are telling their students or more to the point saying yes when they are asked?

I'm also secondary and I told them it was none of their business right up until my maternity leave began. I'm very private about my life away from school though.

I said yes when asked. First asked about 18 weeks, I think (by a year 7 with no filter).

I talked to my 6th formers about half a term before I went on mat leave, once I knew who would be covering their classes. My younger classes I told a week or two before I left - they could obviously see already but I didn't want to just disappear!

With my first pregnancy I told the kids (very, very lovely all girls private school) when I was about 4 and a half months... I was starting to struggle to hide it and knew a few of the 6th formers had guessed. I knew they'd be very sweet about it - and they were.

Am now teaching at a comp, with lots of not very nice kids who I wouldn't put it past to say horrible things, so I'm not planning on telling with this one til much later!
