The Waiting Game - Bleeding at 6 weeks

Hi all. I've seen a few threads about spotting and bleeding in early pregnancy but thought I'd start my own - it's a long one.
I got my BFP 2 weeks ago but that night I had red blood when I wiped. I'd had brown spotting for about 12 days before the BFP with a bleed so presumed that was breakthrough bleeding after the BFP. I called my doctor and told them everything and I was booked in for an early scan at the EPU. They found a sac but nothing inside, dated me as around 5 weeks and told me to come back 10 days later.
I returned to the EPU on Friday having had continuous brown spotting over that time getting heavier the closer I got to the scan, to find out that the sac had grown and fetal pole was there measuring 4.7mm with no heartbeat approx 5w6d (but it might just be too early to see). However there is also a bleed around the sac. So I was told I had to wait another 10 days and see how things go but it could go either way.
The bleeding since has been heavier, more red blood and some clots. Not enough to fill a pad, more when I wipe.
I don't know what to think, I go from hopefully that things might be okay, to expecting bad news a week tomorrow.
I'm not really sure what I hope to expect from this but just want to talk to someone about it hopefully helping the days go by quicker. OH has been lovely and patient, letting me rest and chatting through things, but I thought talking to others in early pregnancy might help.

This sounds like the exact same bleeding that I've had. Mine tends to be worse in the mornings when i wipe but disappears by the end of the day. I've had 2 scans already 1 at 5 weeks where we just saw the sac and fetul pole and the next was at 6 weeks + 1 day and we saw a heartbeat. They couldn't see where any bleeding was coming from and didn't seem too worried. They told me if it carries on to mention it at my 1st midwife appointment which I have next week. I've had the bleeding nearly everyday since finding out I was pregnant and even though I've seen 2 scans I still can't help but feel like something is wrong. My husband has been great but i still feel he doesn't totally understand how I'm feeling

Thanks for replying. Sorry to hear you're going through something similar, it's good that you've seen a heartbeat though. Has your bleeding stopped or got any less recently?

My bleeding is getting worse so can't help but worry it's all over now. There's still a small chance it could be there but endlessly worrying about the blood is wearing me down and I've still got a week to wait for the next scan.

Glad to hear your husband has been supportive too. I think because it's not their body, it's easy to distract themselves from it all. It's a little harder to shut off from it when everytime you pop to the loo you get a reminder.

It's hasn't stopped at all but sometimes it's lighter sometimes it's heavier, it varies from day to day. It's never been heavy enough to need a pad in its only ever on the tissue & have had to stop having sex as it has happened then too.
Is yours all day everyday? Mine is worse in the mornings like this morning i had it but bow it's lunchtime I have nothing but can almost guarantee it'll be back again in the Morning.
Have you asked if they can bring the scan forward?

RunnerGirl123 · 06/03/2018 13:14

Mine is bad in the morning, then pretty consistent for the rest of the day. There will be odd times when I think it's easing up but then it's just as bad the next time I check. I started wearing pads on Sunday but not a lot is going into them.
I keep saying if it gets heavier I will phone EPU, they've been really good, but I think they'll tell me to wait it out at the moment because it's not really heavy and I don't have any pain.
Do you think you'll have another scan before your 12 weeks one?

That's how mine was when I went for the 1st scan and the EPU kept telling me only to worry if I fill a pad within an hour or I am in pain. But having spoken to other people this isn't always the case with a miscarriage. It's so hard to know when and when not to worry.
I hope i have another scan before the 12 week scan to put my mind at rest but I don't think they like doing too many this early on so I'm not sure. Just have to wait and see what the midwife says next week.
