Help with Dinner Choices

I have a work dinner next week and need to conceal the fact I'm pregnant. I can say I need to drive so not issue with alcohol.

The choice of starters is:

  1. Feta salad
  2. Home-cured Salmon
  3. Chicken liver parfait

The mains are:

  1. Cod
  2. Steak (cooked medium/medium-rare)
  3. Lamb (cooked medium)
  4. Risotto (i don't like risotto)

Am i correct that my only pregnancy friendly options are 1. and 1. or could i have e.g. salmon and medium cooked steak? I can't put in special request, e.g. medium-well steak as it will raise alarm bells.

P.s. i've name-changed in case a colleagues recognises this from the choices

I think only the feta salad from starters but I'd say lamb and steak are both fine if medium cooked so slightly pink

Why is a "medium-well" steak an alarm bell?? It's very common for people to like their steak cooked differently, that's why you're asked how you'd like it done when ordering...

I'd eat all of that. Pregnant or not. Least safe is probably the parfait.
Smoked salmon is safe. The meat will be fine.

All fine except for the chicken liver. Enjoy!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/03/2018 20:26

But it's not SMOKED salmon, it's cured, which is different. I think it would be sensible to stick with starter #1, but any of the mains would be fine, imo. Medium beef or lamb is cooked.

All but the parfait are fine. The steak would be best well done, but I'd hate that!

ourkidmolly · 05/03/2018 20:48

Honestly chill out. It's all fine, just avoid pate.

Smoked salmon is fine :)
