When did you pack your hospital bag?

I was ridiculously organised for first baby and had everything washed, packed and ready by week 25.

This time round I’ve got the stuff bought, but with 8 weeks to go, nothing’s washed or assembled/organised...

Interested when everyone else is planning to pack? I’m getting a bit stressed about being so disorganised, but full of cold so don’t feel well enough to think straight

With my first, I was still packing it when my waters went.
This time, I'm 25 weeks and have already packed all the non clothing items.

I’m 34+3 with no 2 and need to do it! First time round all done by 30 weeks!

Had last dc at 35 weeks. The only bag I had packed was my holiday case. Missed the holiday as had to have a emcs the day we were leaving!! Gutted. Glad ds was OK of course but still!!

33 weeks with DC3...I’ve started the list of stuff I need to buy for post-birth and that’s as far as I’ve got! The car seat and 0-3 month stuff are all still waiting to be washed and sorted. I’ve had 2 homebirths and planning a third so a little bit different/less pressure I guess, but obviously still need a hospital bag packed in the event of needing to transfer in. Will probably hit the shops sometime this week and pack/wash/prep over the next few weeks. Feels like I have ages to go still so I’m not in a rush.

I just finished packing mine today at 37w with #2. Having it packed by 36w is the normal recommendation but most people aren't going to go into labour early with their first, and if you do your bag will probably be the least of your concerns, so I wouldn't stress too much about it.

38 or 39 weeks with second

Never with first Blush had the baby before I had bought things never mind packed

GransGloves · 05/03/2018 14:22

First DC was about 30w.

Second DC we have building renovations going on until 38w so will have to be after that at some point!

Daffydil · 05/03/2018 14:26

My DH packed it at 37 weeks after my waters broke. Don't do that!

MrsL2016 · 05/03/2018 15:25

I had a list of everything on my phone from 30+ weeks and started putting it together at 35 weeks and finished by 37. 38+2 today and it's there ready and waiting.

DaisyLand · 05/03/2018 16:17

Ds1 due in 5 weeks. Still haven’t started packing. Oops

AndInShortIWasAfraid · 05/03/2018 16:20

I'm 36+6 today and still haven't packed. I'm laid up in bed with HG and DH has a six hour roundtrip commute. Before the HG I had dreams of being organised!

scrivette · 05/03/2018 16:21

First was after my waters broke and I was in labour at 38 weeks (not recommended), second and third at 37 weeks.

MissTFied · 05/03/2018 16:24

Packed as recommended at 36 weeks. Sat looking at it now, gathering dust, as currently 40 + 11...Confused

Rylanmakesmyheartsmile · 05/03/2018 16:28

#1 - 32 weeks - my best friend had her first at 32 weeks and the time stuck in my head and it became my planned date to be "ready" by.

#2 - 40+2 when I was sent to hospital with reduced movement. DC1 had been born at 39 weeks so I hadn't necessarily expected to go late, so not really sure why I didn't do it sooner. I grabbed a few things while DH searched for batteries for the TENS machine. Came home later that day and still didn't do anything to actually sort the bag out properly, so by the time baby was born at 41wks, I still only had the bare minimum. (No problem though - I was only in the hospital for 7 hours start to finish and baby was born within minutes of arriving so I didn't have need for much stuff.)

#3 - 28 weeks - it was twins and because DC2 had been super fast in the end, there was considerable concern about me even making it to the hospital on time, so I did what I could to be as ready for the chaos as possible by at least having my bag ready.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 05/03/2018 16:33

First I was so organized. Everything ready to go by 30 weeks.
36 weeks now with second, have bag nearly packed. Still have to get cot and changing table and travel system is going off for a steam clean when I book it in!
Have all the 0-3 month clothes washed, ironed and out away and blankets and sheets washed too,

heatherxo · 05/03/2018 22:16

Packed it the day before I went into labour (36+1 weeks)
30+3 now and gonna start buying bits and pieces now

Loosemoose28 · 05/03/2018 22:19

Ive had one since 20 weeks as had quite a few hospital stays.

Packed a baby one today 34 weeks.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 05/03/2018 22:21

2am after my waters broke at 36 weeks. Don't do that. DH spent the next week trying to find the things I needed to bring to me in hospital. This is when I found out that he couldn't distinguish between clothes and pyjamas.
