Hi, I'm new to Mumsnet and new to pregnancy - just 5 weeks! For those of you who have been here before or are further down the line I'm looking for a good online resource for pregnancy yoga/pilates/core or similar that I can start with now and stick with all the way through (fingers crossed). Any suggestions?

Any experiences or tips on exercise during pregnancy - the dos/dont's, good and bad would be most welcome!

Hey, I'm 12 weeks in with my first pregnancy too. I did loads of exercise before, but I haven't done nearly as much since finding out I am prego, although it would be perfectly safe to I've not felt like it! My cardiovascular health has fallen off a cliff - it feels like am breathing through a straw!
General advice I have heard is that it's fine to carry on working out as you were before (but no Scuba diving or horseriding!) but avoid raising your core temperature too much. So I've pulled out of races I had scheduled but I will continue to jog around the block a couple times a week.
Yoga and pilates are encouraged esp for strengthening your pelvic floor :) Hope you find a good one please share if you do.

I think the advice is that it is fine to keep your same routines/types of exercise, but perhaps lower impact if you’re very active (I stopped bouncing and jumping during HIIT workouts from 4 weeks, but then physically couldn’t keep up with my old routines from 12 weeks). Your body will guide you. Stay well hydrated and don’t push yourself.

In my first pregnancy, I kept exercising in the gym till 7 months (stopped boot camp though) and added vigorous walks till 40 weeks. This time I stopped all exercise at 12 weeks (mainly due to dreadful morning sickness lasting all day/night) and I really feel physically worse for giving up. I was healthier and more energetic during first pregnancy due to the exercise. Good luck OP!

Hi all.
Im currently 20 weeks.
Up until a week ago I kept up all my usual routine. This included cardio classes, Hiit classes and runs. In my first trimester I kept on doing core work too.
I feel much better once Ive worked out and like getting a sweat on.
I have been told that it takes a lot to raise your core temperature. Your body is quite good at regulating your temperature - but obviously working out in very hot and humid conditions is not recommended.

But now i'm 20 weeks down the line i'm taking it easier..

I quite like these videos. They are 5 mins each. They say they are good for 2nd trimester but I think they are good for anyone at any stage! My husband does them with me.

She has a few of these. I quite often just do 3 of them in my living room. 15mins and job done..

I want to find an online maternity pilates/yoga video. So will follow to see if anyone recommends something..!

Online stuff is ideal. Pregnancy yoga seems to always be £12-£14 a session.. Which is a bit much for me if I want to do 2 a week!

Theres loads of pregnancy yoga / pregnancy pilates videos on Youtube. I bought a birthing / yoga ball and have used it throughout - again lots of videos online that incorporate ball exercises.

I'm an avid walker but by 25 weeks I was unable to get anywhere quickly! So frustrating that my pace slowed right down so I decided to take up swimming which has been great and I'm really enjoying it.
