Popping over from the conception boards looking for any kind of hope.

Have any of you experienced unexplained infertility of either your first pregnancy or after already having had a child and managed to eventually get pregnant naturally? I have conceived twice, once with my partner, and both times I was on birth control. We’ve now been ttc for 18 months with no pregnancies at all but after all of our tests came back normal, we’ve been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I only seem to hear people given this diagnosis saying they’ve tried for years and years and ended up having rounds of IVF. So I just wondered if any of you had been through this and eventually got pregnant naturally.

I have pcos but it wasn't causing issues fertility wise for me - tried for 10yrs with no success and after being told we would never have kids - IVF is hard to access in our area too.

After falling I'll in feb/March 2014 and needing lumbar punctures, blood transfusion etc I fell pregnant and had dd1 in November.

After near 4yrs of zitch I'm pregnant again and due august.

One thing that worked for me was a flush out of tubes and uterus under xray- can't remember what it's called but under infertility consultant care they did it and 8 months after I was pregnant.

There is defo hope.

Thank you gryffen I’ve just had the HyCoSy (the dye flushed through tubes to check for blockages thing) last month. I’ve heard from lots of people that it helped them conceive after ttc for a long time beforehand, but I’m trying not to pin my hopes on it. Glad to hear you finally got your baby (and another on the way!)

I fell pregnant by accident with my third. Tried over a year for my second, think it may have been getting on for 18-20 cyclew. Couldn't get a blood test as my periods were too irregular to predict for day 21 bloods. Despite, temping, opks, every other day. Nothing worked.

My opks were never very dark, so decided to try soy isoflavones. Fell pregnant that cycle. Currently pregnant with my third. I fell pregnant in October despite early withdrawal, lost it, then fell pregnant again in December intentionally. So after struggling to conceive our second, the third was a piece of cake. Fertility seems so inconsistent.

That should say fell pregnant accidentally with my first.

Bubblegum89 · 04/03/2018 20:07

Thanks cuppasarah it really is inconsistent. I’m lucky that I get a positive opk every month and they are always extremely dark to start off with plus my cycles are very regular. Although with all the things I seem to have going for me, it’s not seeming to help me actually get pregnant! Congrats on number 3 :)

Hello @bubblegum - lovely to see you. It’s an oldie but friends of ours tried for two years with an inexplicable lack of falling. They were just about to visit a fertility consultant when she fell, totally naturally and with no reasoning behind the wait. Also, my mum fell naturally after trying for 12 years (but I hope it doesn’t take you that long). Wishing you all the best of luck in the world, it’s a rotten business x

Tried for 6years with ex-x4rounds of ivf/icsi-no pfb

7months after meeting DP I found i was expecting!
Started ttc #2 a few years later and after over a year realised time was running out (getting old!) so went to gp who basically shooed us away. I saw a different gp and demanded help. DP’s test showed super sperm, mine showed non ovulation so was referred to fertility clinic. They said to loose weight, sent me for more Blood tests (still not ov’ing but AMH great for age) and scans (sonographer said no issues) and return in 6months-but unless my BMI dramatically decreases I would get no help.
I kind of lost hope till February when I got back on plan diet-to little too late for ttc help tho.

I go back to fertility clinic in 10 days for results of all my tests.

But........ i have my booking in appointment with midwife in 2 weeks!
After 24+ months of ttc 😀

All the best bubblegum!

I got diagnosed with unexplained infertility after trying for 5 years, had all the nhs tests, no problems found so said was unexplained... probably wouldn’t ever happen naturally and to start exploring ivf. A month later I feel pregnant.... think I just relaxed and thought it was never going to happen, unfortunately we lost baby at 11 weeks, but here I am a year later and currently 30 weeks pregnant. There is always a glimpse of hope! I hope you get some baby dust your way soon!! X

Bubblegum89 · 04/03/2018 22:11

Thanks so much ladies, I’m glad that babies were all had in the end :) I worry it will be a long road for us plus IVF really isn’t realistically in our price range right now. It’s nice to hear some positive stories though!

I don’t have a similar experience to share (my issue was PCOS so although I had trouble there was a cause) but I just wanted to say that I’ve seen your other threads and really do wish you the best. after all that you’ve been through you’ve been so kind to the other girls on the conception board.
Everything crossed for you x

PlowerOfScotland · 05/03/2018 07:00

I conceived after HyCoSy with my second. Currently 5 weeks with my 3rd.

Gin involved with both conceptions although that's probably just coincidence. We were told our second wouldn't happen naturally, clomid didn't work for us. 3rd is a happy surprise.

Bubblegum89 · 05/03/2018 08:57

Aw thank you 1stx :) hope your pregnancy is going well!

plower I had a HyCoSy last month, just finished my first fertile week since having it so keeping everything crossed but also realise that it’s not as simple as that lol I’ve heard a lot of stories about couples conceiving after HyCoSy/HSG. I’m not holding out much hope but we’ll see. The doctor told us there was no point in putting me on clomid as I ovulate regularly although most people I have spoken to with unexplained infertility have been put on it so I’m not sure why :/ congrats on your third!
