Has anyone had a really girl looking 'nub' turn out to be a boy? The nub on my scan is slightly raised but baby's back is a bit curved. I am adament its a girl and don't get me wrong another girl would be lovley (have an almost 2 year old DD) but i am so desperate for a boy. I just know they are going to say girl at my scan next week so i am getting them to write it down so me and my partner can open it together. My sister said she thinks you just know really deep down what you are having and i really think girl. The scan picture is almost the same as my DD apart from head shape and her nub was extremly flat!

Well I was convicted both mine were both boys and they were both girls. I would be concerned about any anomalies being found rather than gender though. It’s lovely having 2 dds though!

Oh don't get me wrong i really hope baby is healthy and that is the main thing x

People thought my nub looked girly but I had a gut feeling we were having a boy. Lo and behold, baby boy 💙

SamanthaH92 · 04/03/2018 15:11

So it does happen lol. I've read that it all depends on the angle when taking the scan but its got no stacking but is slighty raising up x

Nub and skull theory between me and friends was as accurate as tossing a coin.
Think it was 5 of 9 babies it was correct for.

Bitsandbobsalot · 04/03/2018 16:45

Me !!!! Definitely a “girl” nub facing down etc and everyone who looked said girl but at 16 week sex scan bubs is definitely a little boy.

AKP79 · 04/03/2018 16:52

This has made me feel better. We really didn't want to know the sex of our baby and were really keen for it to be a surprise. However, when we posted the 12 week scan on Facebook as part of our announcement someone commented on our post saying - Based on the nub theory this is definitely a girl! Congratulations you'll be having a girl in July.

I was furious and it's really upset me. Not because I'm bothered about it being a girl, but that without permission someone took away the surprise element for us. However, if there are possibilities of an error I'm feeling a little better about it.

Lollipop30 · 04/03/2018 16:57

AKP79 there’s definitely room for error. I’d ignore it unless they’re a sonographer!
I’ve guessed my best friends, I hope she’s not annoyed as she doesn’t want to know either. I am in no way qualified and it is entirely a guess, honestly haven’t got a clue!

SamanthaH92 · 04/03/2018 17:01

I am sorry someone did that! I got all girl guesses on my DDs scan and yes she was a girl. Nub we very flat but this one isn't. My MIL has said she thinks its a boy for ages but tonight has said she thinks its a girl x

Thanks ladies. I think I found it so annoying because she was so definite about it. If she had said 'I think...' I wouldn't have been so annoyed, but it felt like she was revealing the sex for us. I'm also VERY hormonal and tearful, so that doesn't help ;)

SamanthaH92 · 04/03/2018 19:07

I can imagine the hormones don't help lol. Im just so anxious for the scan which is one of the reasons im getting it written down for later. I just hope everything is ok x

Also depends exactly when the scan was!
Anything before 12weeks and 6 days isn't set in stone so can still rise!!!!

SamanthaH92 · 04/03/2018 20:01

I was ment to be 12 weeks 6 days i think but they said i was 12 weeks 3 days x

I don't hold any confidence in nub theory. Every single person I asked about nub said 100% a boy. After paying for 4 private sexing scans and my NHS anomaly scan I am in no doubt having a little girl. So I wouldn't put to much on what people say about nubs or skull theory personally

SamanthaH92 · 04/03/2018 20:07

I know they can be wrong. But they were right with my DD. I am also told little girls heads are more round this scan the babies head doesn't look as round as my DD x

The other thing is, it's hard to prove or disprove a theory when there's only 1 of 2 outcomes, you've got a 50:50 chance of guessing the rift sex before even looking at a scan

SamanthaH92 · 05/03/2018 08:17

Yeah you are right. I suppose we will have to just wait and see. Not much longer to go x
