Sore bump, feeling sick? 20+5

User1017 · 04/03/2018 09:23

Looking for some advice, I’ve tried googling it but thought best to see if anyone else has experienced this. Last 2 days I’ve had a sick feeling but not the usual nausea, like a sort of churning in my stomach every so often but it’s not put me off eating etc. At night I have found it very hard to sleep and yesterday and last night my bump has felt very sore and tight, it’s difficult to explain but only thing that relieves the pain is rubbing it in circular motion constantly and with the pain I just felt very sick.

I had this and it did pass so think for me it was some sort of growth spurt? It may be Braxton Hicks but i would ring triage to get some more specific advice

User1017 · 04/03/2018 10:16

Thank you, looking up Braxton Hicks just now, i didn’t have this with my ds. Could be this, tried to phone midwife but couldn’t get through but will try again if doesn’t ease

Keep trying your midwife even if you feel better just to see if she has any advice in case it happens again.

Try a warm (not hot) hot water bottle and stay hydrated. Hope you feel better soon!

I also found out I have an irritable uterus and get a tightening and pressure which can make you feel nauseous does it sound like that? Either way keep trying your midwife and if you need to get seen to please don’t hesitate to go to your triage

Thank you, I called midwife and I don’t know if I didn’t describe it well but she wasn’t concerned and had said it sounded more like a bug? I explained I’ve had a child before n the pain was like early labour to me and she said that’s what she’d be concerned about but it doesn’t sound like it. I don’t think it is either but I’m not sure what it can be, it comes and goes thru the day like a tightening and pain and I feel sick but I don’t know if it’s with the pain. I automatically feel worse (uncomfy, sore, sick) when lie down and even worse if I turn on my side. I’ve been taking paracetamol and like u said a hot water bottle but was apprehensive about it but it’s sort of helped ease the pain so I could doze into a sleep every so often then would wake again

If you have still got the pain I would take yourself to the triage ward if you have one, tell them it’s been a few days now and you still don’t feel better. They might check you for infection, uti etc and if all comes back clear you can at least rest assured that it will pass but also ask them for advice on what to do.

Curious347 · 05/03/2018 19:40

It really sounds similar to what I have with irritable uterus the pain can come when I’m lying down and it’s like a pressure which makes me feel sick it’s hard to describe. Maybe ask them for some info if it could be that?

User1017 · 05/03/2018 20:12

Thank you for your replies! I’ve just had a quick google on irritable uterus and it does sound a lot like it. Is there a way of checking if this is what it is or do they go by ur description of symptoms and diagnose? I have been getting the pain lower back as well as across top of my bump in particular. I don’t know if this is anything to do with it but the other thing I am getting and only way I can describe it is as it’s like when you’ve ate something and it’s went down wrong way or stuck. It’s like a pain under my chest and back. Not sure if that’s completely unrelated! The pain across bump and back and sickness gets worse if I lie on my side too? I have a midwife appt on Monday so hopefully she’ll discuss it with me. It’s just so frustrating when you are exhausted but lying down makes u feel so ill x

The reason they said it was that for me was only because they hooked me up to the monitor and it was showing I was having contractions but the sensations you are describing sound the same!

Hopefully the midwife will be able to give you more information on it, but I think you can really feel it from later on in the second trimester.

Did you get heartburn with your DS? Because when I lie down I also feel sick because of that! There’s a few odd things that go on with our bodies isn’t there! all worth it for the little one though Smile

Curious347 · 05/03/2018 20:41

Let us know what the midwife says but honestly don’t wait to be seen if it’s causing you pain and bother x

User1017 · 05/03/2018 20:46

I did did get heartburn later on with ds. This time round I’ve started getting it now and then but not too badly (yet) 🙈! I am going to try gaviscon tonight tho, I’ll try anything lol!
Yes very strange but definitely worth it in the end!
Thank you very much for all your advice, it’s reassured me at least! I will try wait it out but if gets worse I’ll give gp a call, will let u know what midwife says and thanks again 🙂 xx

Hopefully it’s just a temporary thing and you are feeling better soon xx

FallenAngel89 · 05/03/2018 20:58

I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and I nearly constantly have a very full tight stomach and sick feeling. Drives me mad as the uncomfiness and nausea is unexplainable Sad Hoping it will pass! Gaviscon doesn't help heartburn for me but the flavoured heartburn tablets you can get from most supermarkets work a treat (eat 2 and it's like magic) Hope you feel better soon x

It sounds like an irritable uterus as others have said. Pretty much every night for what felt like most of my pregnancy, my bump would go really hard and uncomfortable and the only way for me to be comfortable was to go and lie in bed and rest. I used to take it as a sign that I needed to have a break and it would always ease off once I'd rested eventually. If it's unusual for you though, it might be worth a call to MAU to be on the safe side?

User1017 · 06/03/2018 08:05

It does sound a lot like this, another sleepless night with the hot water bottle to relieve pain. In your experiences does this come and go? I seemed to be ok yesterday during the day, uncomfy but not like it has been at times. I have an appt Monday as I said but I don’t know if I should call before then although when I called midwife basically spoke to me as if I was being silly and could be a bug or just stretching as I am pregnant x

Yes mine always came and went, but I tended to find I would generally be ok in the daytime and it set in on an evening, then would be gone the next morning once I'd rested overnight. It also used to happen when the midwife would palpate my uterus when she would measure baby in my appointments. I had 2 separate appointments where several midwives couldn't locate the baby as my stomach went so hard, so couldn't check how they were lying etc. The midwives weren't worried although they did say it was odd. It was very stressful for me though.

Has it been any better today for you?
