23 weeks - how much weight have you gained?

I've gained 10 kilos and feeling massive. Is this too much? My starting weight was 57 kilos and I'm now 67!!! Boobs are massive, arse and thighs slightly bigger, obviously lots on stomach/front carriage, face is normal. Scared it's going to take ages to lose it! With my DSs, 9 and 7, I was back to my normal weight within 6 months but can't remember how much weight I gained. Help!

I've gained two stone.... I'm mortified Blush 24 weeks on Tues. I had terrible nausea up until about 17 weeks so could only stomach carby stuff which didn't help! I already had a high BMI to start.

GoodluckJonathan76 · 03/03/2018 23:15

Ahh, Jelly, we are not so different! I feel powerless to do anything about it now though. Too hungry and too out of shape to do anything. Resigned to being fat for the foreseeable future.

I'm 20 weeks, I had bad nausea for 2 months and lost a stone. I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight but I'm starving and eating so much.... I'm sure I'm stack it on soon

Sassy306 · 03/03/2018 23:55

Try not to stress about it too much...I put nearly 4 stone on with my first pregnancy. 2 were easy to get off and the other 2 I had to work at lol.

This time I'm 38 weeks and have only put on 5kg but I can honestly say it's not because I've been careful about what I eat, i cant explain it tbh but it makes me think that although you can try to keep your weight gain to a minimum , it's possibly not something you have total control over

Honey456 · 04/03/2018 06:29

I’m 23 weeks tomorrow and currently at 1 stone 5 lbs weight gain so far. Feeling chubby to say the least ( my weight gain seems to have gone strait to my face!). I have no cravings whatsoever for anything healthy and I have been indulging too much with carby food, snacks and chocolate. I’m going to try to do something about thIs though as I’m worried I’ll have no energy after she’s born because I’ll just be feeling overweight!

Shutupanddance1 · 04/03/2018 06:45

@jellycrumble - your growing a person, absolutely no need to be mortified

My first pregnancy I gained 4 stone - turns out it was mostly water as I had pre eclampsia - I lost all my weight in 9 months and I didn’t diet.

This time I’m 25 weeks and have gained exactly 10kg - I’m happy enough about this. Everyone gains and loses different amounts during pregnancy.

SamanthaH92 · 04/03/2018 07:11

I am 20 weeks almost and i have lost nearly half a stone. I lost 2 stone in my last pregnancy x

LittleFox01 · 04/03/2018 07:14

I'm nearly 31 weeks and have gained 10lb x

user1499786242 · 04/03/2018 08:25

I'm 27 weeks and I've put on 2.5 stone
I can't believe it

With my first pregnancy I barely put on any weight! Honestly was just a bump so I was back to pre preg weight a few days after!

This time... it's uncontrollable! Very strange!
To be fair my cravings this time are really unhealthy but I wouldn't say I'm exactly eating ridiculous amounts!
Getting awful joint pain and I think it's the extra weight but I don't know how to stop it haha

God knows how big I will get!

TheCatsMother44 · 04/03/2018 09:41

I've seen these threads come up every so often on here and the general consensus is that everyone puts on weight in different amounts and at different stages so it's very hard to compare yourself.

I think there might be something on the NHS website about how much you're recommended to put on depending on your BMI before pregnancy but I just think as log as you're not eating terribly and balancing as much as you can whilst getting through the struggles of pregnancy - cravings, nausea, loss of appetite, increase in appetite etc - then it is what it is.

I'm 22 weeks and have put on about 16lb. I don't know how tall you are but I weighed similar pre-pregnancy and was a size 8. I like to think my body needed to lay down more fat! I have been starving all pregnancy so don't see how I could have put on much less. I'm eating at least 50% more than usual! I think I put on a lot of it in the first trimester and it's slowed a bit since though.

GoodluckJonathan76 · 12/03/2018 10:49

User, I think I follow a similar pattern, i.e. pile is on fairly quickly in the 1st few months then it starts to flow down. I was starving in first few months. Reassuring that others have put on similar amounts. Just wanted to know if I was way over. I am still within the realm of normal according to the NHS guidelines but it gives an overall gain, not per month. Seeing the consultant this week so will ask her what she thinks. Thanks all. xx

At 23 weeks I'd only gained about 5kg!

Kittypillar · 12/03/2018 13:35

Think at 24 weeks I'd gained 10lbs - now I'm 31 weeks and I'm 17lbs heavier.

Really don't worry too much about it. Everyone is so different and as long as you're trying to be relatively healthy (says me!), your body is just doing what it needs to do for baby. I'm trying to remind myself of this daily so I don't get too hung up on it.

Kittypillar · 12/03/2018 13:37

Should point out, now I'm 17lbs heavier overall compared to my pre-pregnancy weight - realised I probably wasn't very clear! Blush

Summer1986 · 12/03/2018 13:44

24 weeks and 1st 2lb gain so far. Feel like this is too much especially given my BMI at conception was 32.

GoodluckJonathan76 · 12/03/2018 13:53

I'm not trying to be healthy, more to just go with my body. I am relying on the fact that in both my previous pregnancies I went back to normal within 6 months. I do think your starting weight has a lot do to with it. If you have a high BMI to start with then presumably you should gain less. My starting BMI was 20. It's just weird going from slim and flat-chested to having massive boobs, bigger thighs and arse etc. Assuming there are people (supermodels) who just gain on the bump and on the boobs and nowhere else but that's cleartly not me! My body seems intent in laying down a good layer of fat to help!

24 weeks and gained over 1 and a 3/4 of a stone. I was famished in the the early months, then Christmas, now just got into bad habits I think.
I was at my slimmest I’ve been in years when I got pregnant after serious dieting so the first half a stone just took me up to my usual fighting weight. So don’t fee to bad about it.

I do this every time. It’s my third. I know I can lose it again when I get the right mind set.
