Glucose testing

I've had a letter through calling me to a 3 hour glucose test at the hospital. I'm now 28 weeks. Does this suggest the midwife is concerned I may have gestational diabetes? I thought they only did the 3 hour test if something showed up on your initial test (which I don't think I have had yet?!)

Some trusts test everyone. Or you may have risk factors (I had a previous large baby, others could be BMI or family history of diabetes).

My parents are both diabetic so that is probably it! Not sure what else it would be. BMI etc all fine. Thank you

Has the midwife done a dip test on your urine sample? That is what led to me having the glucose tolerance test but the results were absolutely fine.

It will be due to your parents being diabetic.
As far as I'm aware, there's only one GTT test in the UK which is blood test, drink glucose solution, wait hours in the hospital, another blood test.

I've got one cos of my ethnic background. I think the likelihood of me having GD is vanishingly small all things considered but cos I ticked a box it generated the referral.
