Yesterday morning I felt queasy and knew instantly I was pregnant. DH thought I was nuts as I’ve had the Mirena for about 18months now but I just knew. I tried to see if I could still feel the strings ( I’m not very good at checking) but couldn’t, although that’s not unusual apparently. So I found a test that I bought about 2 years ago and have just done it. It’s positive isn’t it?
The thing is I really really don’t want any more babies - I already have a very large family (8dc) and I’m old. However an abortion is out of the question. I can’t believe this has happened.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CobaltRose · 03/03/2018 18:24

New test looks negative, but definitely do a couple more to make sure. False negatives are much more common than false positives.

MaverickSnoopy · 03/03/2018 18:25

OP I've read so many bad things about the clear blue tests (and had bad experiences myself) that I would get a pink dye one, especially as you've had a "positive" test, abeilt an out of date one.

MiniAlphaBravo · 03/03/2018 18:27

Ooh good luck op, I would also get a pink dye test as they seem to be more reliable. Had no idea that out of date tests could show up false positives (if that’s the case).

MynameisJune · 03/03/2018 18:28

It does look negative and CB are known for giving false positives so this is hopeful. But I would re-test in the morning especially with your symptoms. Although all of those can be symptoms of progesterone rises so it’s not a given that they are hcg symptoms.

Rachie1986 · 03/03/2018 18:31

Yes 2nd looks negative.
Definitely another test in morning and I echo a pp about going to Dr about odd symptoms incase anything else needs checking.

ineedtochangemynameforthis · 03/03/2018 18:34

Thank you slightlyperturbed. I will test again again and as you say try again in a few days if neg. I’m not entirely convinced by this test as I have been very sensitive to pregnancy hormones previously.
Laura yes it would be a big sigh of relief but also a trip to the doctor to find out why I can’t feel strings as well as why I feel rough.
Mrsg I don’t know dpo but we haven’t dtd for about 2 weeks, similarly I don’t know if I’m overdue as I rarely have periods anymore due to the mirena ( exceptionally heavy periods was one of the main reasons for choosing the mirena so not having them is a blessing but now means I’m a bit clueless to pinpointing any dates as I used to ).

I prefer the pink dye tests but the CB one was the only early response one I could see in Tesco.

SleepFreeZone · 04/03/2018 11:01

Oh gosh, any update OP?

ineedtochangemynameforthis · 04/03/2018 11:58

Today’s test didn’t work at all Angry ( no lines at all not even in the control square.) Heading into town now to buy a pink dye test. I’m still feeling nauseous but not as much as before.

thecatsarecrazy · 04/03/2018 13:21

Poundland tests are pretty good believe it or not

EllenRipley · 04/03/2018 13:22

Could you have a UTI? I was on here at the end of last year with a few positive tests, but they were all false positives. I think it might have been a combo of trace blood in my urine and peri-hormones which can raise your HCG levels. I was also feeling nauseous but I think that was infection/inflammation. Few days of absolute panic and confusion!

MrsWineasaurus · 04/03/2018 13:37

NorthernLurker · 04/03/2018 18:40

I know several people mirena has failed for. I think it's completely misdescribed tbh.

What's the result xx
