Severe pain when sneezing!

I'm exactly 9 weeks today... I just sneezed and had EXCRUCIATING pain on my lower right of my abdomen, which made me cry out in pain. I had a scan 2 days ago and everything looked good but this has got me a but worried. I did have similar pains at 5 weeks and it turned out to be nothing. I know there's nothing they can do if something is going wrong so im not going to go back to EPU unless I start bleeding... but just wondering if anyone else experienced this too?? Thanks!

I used to get this when pregnant. When I knew I was going to sneeze, i held my where it would hurt to stop.it and it worked.

No idea what caused it.

I got this in early pregnancy. It's just your ligaments stretching

HLBug · 02/03/2018 20:47

Sounds like round ligament pain. I had it with my second pregnancy. It's absolutely excruciating when it comes on. Relax and lie on your side, that seemed to help me. Speak to your midwife too.

I still experience this at 30 weeks, last pregnancy was the same.
I've just put it down to ligament spasms.
It hurts like hell though! 😭

Oh thanks ladies. This is really reslly reassuring to hear and puts my mind at ease that everything is likely still fine.
Pregnancy is mental- so much I don't know!

It's just round ligament pain.

Sneezing, coughing, turning awkwardly in bed all cause this for me, as painful as it is it's normal though and just caused by pulling of the ligaments that attach your uterus to the rest of your body.
I know it's not always possible but if I try to make sure I am a little bit hunched over rather than completely straight before I sneeze/cough it's not as bad (holding my stomach also helps!)

BrutusMcDogface · 02/03/2018 21:55

This is definitely round ligament pain, and it's horrible so you have my sympathies! I'm getting it at the moment every time I move position in bed.

Yep same here, don't worry when I sneeze my stomach hurts... yesterday when I sneezed I was also sick so watch out for that one! haha came as a big surprise! It just pulls on your muscles in a weird way

Bluebirdsky · 04/03/2018 20:40

@Baby2018 the final insult is when you wet yourself as well Confused

surreygirl1987 · 04/03/2018 20:50

Lovely- can't wait for that one haha 😟
So glad you ladies explained it to me!

Yes me too. As someone else said above : try to hold your bump with your hands when about to sneeze. It’s kind of like a stich.
