Did you get the urge and if so how many weeks between your nesting kicked in and baby arriving?

Just curious 😊 .......

Started nesting at about 16 weeks, died off after 20 weeks as was busy with other things and now back in full force since 30 weeks (33+6 currently)

By nesting I presume you mean becoming obsessed with getting the house ready for the baby? Ours still isn't ready.

DetectiveDog · 02/03/2018 14:34

Never happened to me! I was eagerly awaiting it but sadly my house remained a mess!

Oysterbabe · 02/03/2018 14:34

Not so far and my baby is 2 so not convinced it's going to happen Grin

EssentialHummus · 02/03/2018 14:37

Sort of - bought a wreck at 3 weeks gone, spent seven months doing it up in increasing states of stress Grin

PandaCat · 02/03/2018 14:40

I didn't get the urge on either of mine!

Sittingintheshade · 02/03/2018 14:43

I’m 37 weeks and have probably been in the nesting mindset for a few weeks. Have been organising everything and labelling anything that doesn’t move. Used 8 metres of label in my label maker so far!!

Withhindsight · 02/03/2018 14:47

Yes about 4 weeks before, coincided with mat leave, so not sure if was because I had time on my hands and saw all the cobwebs or down to hormonal urges to tackle spiders in case my yet to be born child suffocated on one, if it were to dare to dangle and swing from the ceiling above the cot

blinkineckmum · 02/03/2018 14:54

With my 1st it happened after the baby was born!
Don't remember with my 2nd.
36 weeks with 3rd. Now still waiting for an appearance at 37+3 but hoping it holds on due to the snow!

Sunshinesaz86 · 02/03/2018 15:04

sitting loved how much label you’ve used.

So many of you didn’t get it at all........that’s interesting!

I’m 35+1 today being induced at 38 was having pains last night (nothing major just BH) then couldn’t stop thinking about cleaning in bed. I’ve had SPD for a while so really not been feeling energetic enough to clean......this morning have woke up and literally cleaned/polished the walls/skirtings/doors/cupboards/bathroom/ and now I’m eyeing up the windows!
I can’t imagine it’ll last long but at least I know it will have been within the last 20 days before baby arrives 😂😂!!

I was chomping at the bit to start nesting just before I went in mat leave at 37 weeks. So many people said I might finish work and go into labour early and have no time inbetween so started to panic a little. The first day I went and bought absolutely everything I thought we still needed and got stuff to clean/stock up/batch cook. It's been a week now and I feel much more relaxed and like I wouldn't mind if he decided to make an appearance.

HalfStar · 02/03/2018 18:48

39 weeks today and the house is just starting to come together, I've been working on it for what feels like bloody weeks. I'm not sure I believe in any kind of hormonal 'urge' though. For me it's more like looking at the calendar and there are only x amount of days or weeks left until chaos descends and you may as well start with as good a base as possible because the house will be upside down for quite some time. Also can't bear the thought of helpful family members opening grotty cupboards etc rooting around for stuff while I'm stuck to the couch feeding.

user1499786242 · 02/03/2018 19:18

With first baby the nesting urge was extremely strong!
And early aswell
The whole house had to be perfect including the nursery which turns out he would never use as still sleeps in my bed 2.5 years later
And we've moved house since!

This pregnancy the urge is there but severe spd is preventing me from doing anything I want!
The whole house needs decorating and I know the nursery won't be done but I Am assuming they won't actually use it for a good few years so not too stressed about that!

I would love nothing more than to clean and get organised but with bad hips and a toddler it just won't happen! I'm slowly accepting it 😩😩

WhyTheHeckMe · 02/03/2018 21:02

With dc1 it happened as I was waiting for dh to drive 2 hours home while I was in labour! Was having contractions every minute and a half but still cleaned my kitchen and bathroom and vacuumed while I waited. I was like a woman possessed!

I'm Now 33 weeks with dc2 and it kicked in last weekend. Got rid of dc1 and made dh and me have a huge clear out of the loft and garage, cleaned the kitchen cupboards out and all the wardrobes.

Dh bloody hates it Grin

Oysterbabe · 02/03/2018 21:15

I can understand having a clear out but getting rid of DC1 is a bit much WhyTheHeckMe
Grin

WhyTheHeckMe · 02/03/2018 21:25

Haha, temporary measure although for nesting purposes it would have been ideal of it could be for the next 7 weeks!

Joking of course. I love him and the way he trashes every room he walks through :)

Figmentofimagination · 02/03/2018 21:27

I went on mat leave at 35 weeks, started nesting at about 37 weeks. Whole house got a spring clean, I even repeatedly steam cleaned the kitchen floor. My husband kept getting annoyed as he couldn't walk into the kitchen as the floor was constantly wet.
By 39 weeks I was done, thought I could have a few days to relax before DS was born. Spent 3 weeks going crazy as I had nothing left to clean as DS arrived at 42 weeks.

Foodylicious · 02/03/2018 21:36

I was decorating and fitting new skirting boards around 35 weeks.
No idea how. I was huge!
