Heavily pregnant with a cold

I'm 41 weeks today. Woke up yesterday with horrible sore throat and now my nose is blocked and I can't stop coughing. On top of that we are snowed in and are a motorway trip away from the hospital. First baby so hoping he/she will be a few more days late.

Any advice on how to deal with the cold? Not sure what I would take even if DP does manage to make it to the shop. It'll still have the cold when I give birth I guess- how dangerous is that for passing it on to the baby etc?

I'm 36 weeks today and have the same. Coughing as made me pull a muscle in my bump which is so sore! There isn't much we can take really, paracetamol for aches and pains, hot honey and lemon to drink for sore throat and plenty rest!

Sorry pressed too soon!

Hopefully the worst of it will be over before baby arrives but o wouldn't worry about passing it on. Babies are pretty resilient, hospitals are full of germs! Feel better soon and all the best with baby!

Frigging Hell . Being ill when pregnant is awful but at 41 weeks you have my utmost sympathies.

I would try nuking your system with lemon juice, ginger and Manila honey. Get the raw ingredients and just shove them in a jug with hot water and drink loads of it.

Hope you feel better soon

Porgs Hello OP.
You have my sincere sympathy for dealing with a cold at this stage. I am 37 weeks today and just got out of the worst. I had a cough that made me vomit to the point I got dehydrated and had to get IV fluids. Thankfully I had a lovely consultant who prescribed piriton alongside simple honey and lemon linctus for me and the combination somehow helped suppress the cough!
Oh and marshmallows are great for a sore throatWink do gargle with warm water and salt atleast 3x a day it'll help with temporary relief with the sore throat.
Goodluck OP and hope you feel better soon.

It's awful OP. I was the same and still struggling. Just rest, take paracetamol and if desperate try a topical nasal spray in bed. I had to in the end as I couldn't breathe. I felt the toss up between having slightly compressed topical nasal spray vs not breathing was better for the baby 😂

It's worth going to the doctors. I was also prescribed an asthma inhaler. It really helped!
