Am I having a miscarriage?

I'm in a bit of a panic.
I'm 7+7 today. Me and DP just had a bit of 'fun' no penetration and I orgasmed - it was very powerful and I felt the contractions quite strongly, I immediately panicked. Anyway lay in bed for a while then went to the toilet, wiped myself and to my horror red blood with one clot mixed in. I wiped again and there was more, like a period starting.
If I wasn't pregnant, I'd be due on my AF today. I know some women can have a small bleed around this time each month. However because of the orgasm I don't know what has happened and whether the contractions have caused a MC.
I called my doctor, they said to keep an eye on it and it was fairly common after sex but to hold off on that sort of thing for now until being checked.
I can't get to A&E because the roads are treacherous due to snow and I live in a rural area. Really don't know what to do! Sad

@bfordmama Thank you, I wish I could get out and get checked, but we're completely snowed in. Roads aren't suitable to drive on at all!
Bleeding seems to have stopped now.

Hope everything settles down for you, just take it really easy for the next few days if it helps I had a bleed around that time too, and bleed for about 3 days, the first day was awful and thought i was going it MC then the other 2 days like a bloody mucus bleed. i was checked out at the hospital and my cervix was closed thank god and they did an internal scan where i got to see my little bean with a beautiful strong heart beat. All turned out fine for me and now i have a DS age 2.

SpongeCake23 · 01/03/2018 13:47

@Family121 Thanks, can I ask what your bleeding was like?

Family121 · 01/03/2018 14:01

it was heavy at first like a period bleed (bright red and quite heavy more like a gush ), then it stopped and and i had a very faint mucus bleed for about 2 days after x

SpongeCake23 · 01/03/2018 14:03

@Family121 Thank you for that. Did it have any clots?
I just feel like I've had a miscarriage although no more bleeding now and my boobs still hurt...

Sex, even if it's rough, cannot harm a baby. However, bleeding after sexual activity during pregnancy is pretty common, because the blood vessels on the surface of the cervix are more swollen/pronounced, so even lightly knocking it (like during sex) can cause bleeding.

SpongeCake23 · 01/03/2018 14:16

@CobaltRose We didn't have penetrative sex though, I orgasmed (sorry if TMI) but through oral (again TMI) but the contractions from that were quite intense.

If your pregnancy is Ok sex isn't going to dislodge it. Think of the things people do to try and cause a MC and it doesn't work.
I had loads of bleeding with my first pregnancy - like a heavy period. Went on and off for a few weeks - maybe 7-12 weeks. I went on to have a healthy 8lb boy.

SpongeCake23 · 01/03/2018 16:40

Only pinky/brown when I wipe now.

Hopefully it's just because you're a bit sensitive down there. I'm pretty sure an orgasm wouldn't cause a miscarriage!

Anyway, I had a mc at about your gestation and I went to a&e which was a huge mistake. I'd recommend staying at home and just keeping an eye. My Mc started with period type pains that came in waves, and then the blood.

Fingers crossed all is ok Flowers

SpongeCake23 · 01/03/2018 18:18

@BrutusMcDogface if it is a miscarriage coming, how much blood should I expect? E.g. Going to work etc.

Oh and I've had period type pains since finding out a month ago.

Well, you can have period cramping at the beginning of a healthy pregnancy but the ones I got during my mc were like waves/contractions and felt different. Are you meant to be working tomorrow? How heavy is the bleeding? If it's lots of red blood and lots of pain, I wouldn't go in. Still hopeful that it's just the bleeding people get sometimes in pregnancy. Fingers crossed 🤞

BrutusMcDogface · 01/03/2018 18:40

Have you got an early pregnancy unit? Some places let you self refer.

SpongeCake23 · 01/03/2018 23:12

@BrutusMcDogface Weather still awful here and so I won't be in work tomorrow as I work in a school and it's shut. I haven't bled since this morning when I had the original unexpected bleed after orgasm. I've had a very small amount of pink spotting, that's it.
I hope its a good sign that it's stopped 🤞
I have had period pains come in waves since getting my bfp. I've had two very strong positive pregnancy tests in the last week (control line lighter than test line).

That does sound positive, Sponge! Hopefully it's just one of those things Smile
