Extreme dry skin

Hiya,
I’m 25 weeks pregnant and have the most horrendous dry, itchy skin. I’m keeping myself well hydrated and using non fragranced moisturiser but after a shower I want to claw my skin off. For example, I had a shower yesterday, gentle exfoliation and then moisturised. This morning I went for my shower and my top was covered in flakes of dry skin and I had patches of flaking skin like when your skin peels after sunburn.

Has anyone else experienced this and have any advice? I can’t go through 3 more months of this!

I can relate. I have very dry skin.

For my body I use Sanex Zero non-fragrance shower gel and then a shower oil. I use this one from Eucerin: www.boots.com/eucerin-atocontrol-bath-and-shower-oil-400ml-10165016

Then I lather on E45 Intense Recovery moisturiser after my moisturiser and I do this again before bed. Sometimes I apply unscented body oil before bed if my skins going through a very bad patch.

If its your face thats dry, use a serum before your moisturiser in the morning. Then before bed use a facial oil. I like this one from Green Keratin: www.amazon.co.uk/Green-Keratin-Q10-Oil-Elixir/dp/B008723M80/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?keywords=green+keratin+facial+oil&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1519915339&sr=8-3

Only exfoliate once a week.
If your skin starts to get a rash or bumpy then you might have some kind of allergy that needs checking out??

Baby oil! During the first trimester I had really dry skin on my face that no moisturiser worked on. I read somewhere to try baby oil and by george it worked! Grin
I use johnsons aloe Vera baby oil and apply generously to my body while in the shower, pay dry, and moisturise as well. With my face I applied liberally at night after cleansing as well as a bit under moisturiser during the day and that seems to have sorted it.
Good luck!

Aveeno cream?

DisabledUserName · 01/03/2018 15:29

I had very dry and sensitive skin. Coconut oil has been brilliant this winter.

Thanks everyone, when the snow clears I’ll be out getting these!

The backs of my hands get so dry and itchy they bleed! Best thing I’ve tried is Epaderm it’s honestly so good, felt such relief after the first time I used it

OuchMyFoof · 02/03/2018 11:41

You can use it as a wash in the shower too!

Stop exfoliating.
Use baby oil all over your body (My skins improved so I do this 1 - 2 times a week now.)
I use Palmer's cocoa butter for stretch marks aswell 1 - 2 times a day now on my boobs, bump, hips & thighs (cheaper in Superdrug as opposed to Boots)

I was the same early on! I use sanex zero for dry skin to wash, and Aveeno with the blue lid. It's saved me, my skin is still a little dry but it's way better and the Aveeno soothes it so much!
