Hi all.

Had a growth scan today and baby’s head and abdominal circumference is measuring at 37 weeks!

He plotted on the top line on the graph. But I’m concerned he’s going to be huge! How big were your babies at this stage and at birth?

At 32 weeks one of my ds's was 4-12 and born @40 weeks - 6-05 and another was born @35 weeks weighed 5-7.

leannejade · 27/02/2018 20:43

At 36 weeks my baby measured at 6lb 3oz, so I expected to have a pretty average 8lb baby. I gave birth at 40+6 to a little boy weighing 6lb 4oz. I think it goes to show the measurements can be off.

I think your midwife will keep measuring your bump and will keep an eye on this for you.

DD was born at 35+3 and weighed 6lbs 13oz! DS was born at 39+3 & weighed 9lbs 10oz, at a scam at 35+1 they estimated him to be bs already! DD was a csection & DS natural birth Grin

Babies come in all sizes, if they are concerned s/he's too big they will monitor you.

Shelli1stbabyboy · 27/02/2018 22:03

I have heard that the estimations can be completely wrong. I’ve been suffering with pelvic girdle pain and referred for physio but the waiting list is so long they expect I’d of given birth by the time I’m seen.

At 31 weeks DS was just under 5lb. I was terrified, then he arrived 7lb 3 oz at 37 weeks. His AC had been measuring off the charts towards the end! At 14 months, he’s maintained 50th centile in length and weight since.

I’m currently 36 weeks with DD who was 4 lb 3 oz at 31 weeks.

Littlemissdaredevil · 27/02/2018 23:46

I was measuring on the 90th centile my whole pregnancy including a scan at 31 weeks were the sonographer told me I was having a big baby. Baby came 2 weeks early and was 6lb 7oz.

I was at one point told my baby would be about 11lb when she was born. She came out at 7lb 1oz 🤨

inappropriateraspberry · 28/02/2018 00:14

My1st was measuring big, at the top of the growth chart, and thought she was going to be huge! (I was a big baby too) she was 8lb 8oz so not tiny but not as big as suggested. Don't worry too much, it can all change!

Shelli1stbabyboy · 28/02/2018 09:08

Ahh that’s put me at ease! Thanks everyone Grin

I think my DS was measured at 6lbs something at 32 weeks and was 9lbs when born, so a pretty big baby but he was born naturally with no pain relief and is now a whopper at 4.5 months.
Good luck OP Smile

Ds1 was predicted to be 10.5lb at term. They scanned me loads, and were terrifying me with their predictions.
At 38 weeks they said he was already 9lb.
He was born at 42+3, weighing 7lb 5oz.

ivykaty44 · 28/02/2018 09:32

32 week 7.2ilb born at 39 weeks 9.2ilb

W33XXX · 28/02/2018 09:40

My first born was just over a week early and weighed 8lb 11oz - though dropped to 7lb 1oz before gaining weight. My second was born 5 weeks early and weighed 7lb, again dropped weight and 1 week 1 day later was allowed home at 6lb 2. I had actually measured smaller for my dates, have been told this time I'll get extra growth scans though not banking on them being accurate!

My sisters first was over 9lbs and was told to expect a big baby (following growth scans) with her second who came on time at 7lbs!

WannaBeAWarhol · 28/02/2018 09:43

DS2 measured 7lb at my 35 week scan. He was born at 40+1 weeks and weighed 9lb 1oz. So they were pretty much spot on.

WTFIsThisVirus · 28/02/2018 09:45

I think DS was around the same at 32 weeks. He was 8lb 11oz at birth, on the 75th percentile for everything. He's now 91st.

Figmentofimagination · 28/02/2018 09:47

I had extra growth scans with DS as he was constantly measuring small. At my last growth scan at 39 weeks they said he was fine and was measuring at 6lbs 12oz. He was finally born by EMCS at 42 weeks weighing 6lbs. Hardly lost any weight at birth. He's now 9.5mo and at last weigh in at 9mo weighed 17lb 2oz. He's only just moved into 6-9mo clothes 😂

Princess9891 · 28/02/2018 11:17

I was told dd2 was 6lb 3 at 36 weeks and arrived day before due date at 7lb 8

harrietm87 · 28/02/2018 13:59

I had a growth scan yesterday at 34+2 as I was measuring 5 weeks behind by fundal height, and the baby's weight was estimated at 5lb 5oz and at just under the 50th centile. They said it would likely be 7.5lbs at birth. They say they put on half a point per week so if yours is that weight at 33 weeks you're probably looking at an 8lb baby - perfectly normal!
